Bondita entered her house to find some guests chatting with her family.

"Nomoshkar." She greeted them and raised her eyebrows at her mother, questioning about their arrival, to which Sumati showed her palm, asking her to wait.

"Arey beta tum abhi kahan se aarhi ho?" Asked a woman from the guests.

"Wo ek case ke silsile mein bahar gyi thi kaki." She replied with a subtle smile.

"Main abhi aayi." She said and went inside. Sumati followed her and took her to a corner.

"Maa ye humare ghar achanak se mehman kaise?" Asked Bondita.

"Tere rishte ki baat karne meri bachchi." She replied with a smile holding her chin.

Bondita's eyes widened at her reply.

"Me...mera rishta? Matlab shadi? Abhi kyun?" She was shocked by this sudden decision of her mother.

"Abhi nhi toh kab? Tu shadi nhi karegi?" Sumati frowned.

"Karungi maa, magar abhi kya zaroorat hai? Abhi-abhi toh maine apni barristry ki practice shuru ki hai, abhi toh mujhe apne career mein bohot tarakki karni hai." She held her hands in hers and tried to explain her.

Sumati jerked off her hands and glared at her.

"Aur zindagi ka kya, usme tarakki nhi karni? Dekh Bondita, itna achcha rishta khud chalkar tere paas aaya hai, itne achche mauke ko gawa mat. Ye barristry toh tu shadi ke baad bhi kar sakti hai unn logon ko isse koi dikkat nhi hai." Sumati tried to convince her but she was obstinate.

"Par maa shadi ki itni jaldi bhi kya hai, wo toh kabhi bhi hoti rahegi!" She walked towards the window.

"Par teri maa toh humesha nhi rahegi na beta." Said Sumati in a shaky voice.

"Maaaa...tu khudse mujhe alag kyun karna chahti hai? Kya tu mujhse pyaar nhi karti?" She said, tears ready to roll down her cheeks.

"Nhi meri bachchi, tu toh mere kaleje ka tukda hai. Par ye sab main teri bhalayi ke liye keh rhi hoon. Teri maa hoon, dushman nhi. Bas yhi chahti hoon ki apni aankhein humesha ke liye band karne se pehle apni bachchi ko surakshit haathon mein saunp doon. Apni maa ki ye ichcha poori nhi karegi tu Bondita?" Sumati asked standing behind her and keeping her hand on her shoulder.

"Maa!" Bondita said and hugged her tightly.

"Jaa meri bachchi, apna ghar basale. Jakar haan karde iss rishte ke liye." She said patting her back.

"Maa mujhe bahar le chal." Bondita said while still hugging her mother.

Sumati smiled as she thought that Bondita has finally accepted the proposal.

"Arey wo dekho, aagyi humari hone wali bahu!" Exclaimed Bondita's to-be father-in-law.

Sumati made her sit on the couch, opposite to the guests'.

"Kitni sundar hai, kisi ki nazar na lage!" Said her to-be mother-in-law.

While the to-be groom seemed disinterested in this conversation, he was busy stealing glances at Sampoorna, who flushed red at his stares.

"Inse mil Bondita, ye hain Saurav babu aur ye hain unke mata-pita." Sumati introduced her to the guests. Bondita greeted them with folded hands.

"Bhayi humari taraf se toh haan hai! Abb bas shadi ki tayyariyan shuru kijiye!" The to-be father-in-law declared.

"Ek min!" Bondita stood up. Everybody was stunned to hear this as during that time and even now, girls donot talk or interrupt in this kind of conversations. Only the elders are supposed to talk there.
