Chapter Four - New Feelings

Gally and Andrea walk towards the gladers letting everyone know that it is time from them to get to work-
"Breakfast is up, get to work! Thomas you are in the garden with Newt today until we figure out what job you should have, good luck" Gally says as he and Andrea walk back to his hut. She stares blankly at the floor-
"Hey Ray, what's up?" he says, lifting her chin with his finger so their eyes meet. She stares at him from a moment-
"I don't know, I feel awfully tired today. I'm never like this" she says, starting to panic. He gets up out of his chair-
"Take the day off today Ray, it is probably all the stress with Thomas yesterday slowly catching up to you" he says as she rests her head on his shoulder.
"I can't take the day off, nothing will get done otherwise". He looks her in the eyes and giggles-
"You know who you remind me of? Me. That is the second time you have quoted something that I have said without realising. Don't worry, Newt has everything under control. Come here" he says slouching down on her hammock as she cuddles between his arms. He slowly strokes the hair out of her face and kisses her on her forehead before she falls asleep. Hours go by and Andrea is still sound asleep cuddling Gally with her head on his chest and his arms wrapped comfortably around her. Everything is so quiet until a faint knock at the door which isn't loud enough to wake Andrea but is loud enough for Gally to hear. He whispers to the person on the other side-
"Come in, be quiet though". Thomas slowly opens the door to find Andrea sleeping on top of Gally which confuses Thomas as he had been told that they sleep separately. He is so stunned that he struggles to get his words out -
"Uh- um, I was just wondering if you have figured out what job I can do yet? He says whilst looking back and forth between Andrea and Gally still utterly confused. Gally tells him no so he walks out and decides to tell Newt and Minho what he saw.
"What? Are you sure? Newt checks on them both every night and not once have they shared the same bed" Minho says just as confused as Thomas. Newt freezes in disbelief-
"It's finally happening! They are finally together, it took them a long while but it finally happened" Newt says as he's jumping around and hugging everyone. Thomas gets even more confused at the boys reaction-
"Wait, You are happy that the girl you like is with someone else?" he wondered whilst stopping Newt in his path. Newt stares at Thomas-
"I may like Andrea but they both make each other happier than you could ever imagine, it's great to see them finally admitting their feelings for one another!" he explained. Thomas understands that Andrea is finally happy and decides to let the little crush that he has on her go.
Gally's arms go slightly dead after Andrea sleeps on them for hours so he tries slowly moving into a new position which wakes Andrea up. Gally feels guilty for waking her up knowing she was tired and apologizes-
"I'm sorry Ray, I didn't mean to wake you up" he says brushing the hair out of her face and tucking it behind her ear.
"It's okay, I slept for long enough anyways. What's the time?" she says, looking for some sort of light to calculate how late it is.  Gally giggles-
"It's 7pm love" he says with a smile knowing the reaction he is going to get off her-
"I slept for 10 hours?! And you didn't think to wake me up? I have missed a whole days worth of work, and omg your arms. I slept on your arms for 10 hours. I'm so sorry Gally" she exclaims until she sees Gallys smile knowing he didn't mind at all.
"Thomas came by earlier, he asked if we knew what job we would have him doing. I told him no but that's not what he was interested in". There is a minute silence as Andrea figures out what Gally meant-
"He saw me sleeping on you! He has probably told the whole glade by now" she says whilst smiling and not being able to contain her laughter. Gally admires her for a second until he says-
"We should go find out and see if greenie has told everyone". They both laugh as they head out of the hut. Within a second of the door opening all eyes were on them, every person in the entire glade was staring at both Gally and Andrea. Gally whispers to Andrea-
"Yeah, he definitely told them" which makes her giggle before walking over to the boys for dinner. She sits down next to Newt and Minho waiting for them to say something the way they always do after finding out glade goss.
"So, you and Gally huh?" Minho says, finally breaking the awkward silence. Andrea giggles knowing that they couldn't go a whole minute without asking questions.
"No, Gally and I aren't dating. We didn't sleep together. I was tired and fell asleep on him, that's it" she says, answering all of they're questions before it even crossed their minds. Gally wonders over and sits next to Andrea smiling at her knowing what has gone on. Andrea decides to change the subject-
"I think we should have a bonfire tonight, it will be fun!" she says whilst looking at Gally for his opinion. He nods at the idea and gives her a little smile which makes her very happy.
"So it's decided, bonfire tonight!" Gally says, as he gets up out of his seat.
"Considering it's already 7:30pm, you guys might wanna start the fire. Gally and I are going to get ready" Andrea says as she walks hand in hand with Gally to her hut. The boys stare at them both walking away in silence until Minho suggests-
"We need to get them together tonight!" he says, setting down his food and standing up like he has just presented a speech to the whole of America. Newt agrees and they start building the bonfire for tonight's event.
Gally is laying on Andrea's bed as she decided what she is going to wear-
"Ray you look beautiful already, you don't need to change your outfit" he says staring at her while she starts to throw clothes around. She stops, realising what he had just said-
"What?" she asks him, turning around so they are speaking face to face. He stands up, grabs her face and says-
"You look beautiful, you don't need to change your outfit". She stands stunned as she didn't believe he would repeat what he had said. Andrea places her hands on his face and kisses him on the cheek as she whispers -
"Thank you Gally" into his ear. They both walk out of her hut after deciding she didn't need to change. Before Andrea sits down she gives Gally a kiss on the cheek as she knows he is going to play his game and she won't see him for the night. Andrea sits next to Newt and takes his drink out of his hand, taking a sip and setting it right back in his hands like it never left. After a while Gally challenges Andrea to a match, this would be the first time Thomas saw her play so she decided to go for it.
"So she is going to win right? You said that Andrea is the only person who can beat him" Thomas says as he nervously watches Andrea walk up to where Gally is standing.
"Yeah, she is going to be fine! Watch her hands" Minho says as he points to her hands which are currently on her hips. Gally starts walking in a circle and Andrea follows, he tackles her to the ground without any hesitation whatsoever. Thomas shoots up out of his seat only to be re-seated by Minho who knows what's going to happen.
"1-0 Ray, come on!" Gally says as he teases Andrea about how he is winning. She gets back up onto her feet and runs at Gally with everything she has which takes him off his feet. They both lay there giggling knowing that whoever scores the next point wins. Before anything else happens Newt reminds Thomas-
"Remember to watch her hands" he says as Thomas immediately stares at her hands. They begin to get closer and Andrea brings her hand up and traces her index finger across Gally's jawline and down his neck which distracts him causing Andrea to win.
"Works every time, like a charm!" she says helping him onto his feet as they both go and sit down where Minho, Newt, Fry and Thomas are. The boys start laughing-
"Gally bro, you fall for that every single time" says Fry who can't stop laughing. Gally glares at Fry hating that he always loses against Andrea.
"Come on Gally don't be a sore loser" says Andrea as she playfully nudges him to get him to smile. He can't help but chuckle and starts tickling Andrea-
"How's that for losing, huh?" He says over the loud giggles  Andrea is letting out which echo through the glade. It has been a couple of hours since everything and most gladers have gone to sleep. The boys are talking about what they have to do tomorrow when Gally interrupts-
"Shhh, everybody quieten down. She's sleeping" he says pointing to Andrea who is laying on his lap sound asleep as he braids her hair. Thomas sees this as his time to ask Gally the questions that he has been dying to ask-
"So what's with you and Andrea then? You clearly love her yet you haven't made a move on her" he says with the other boys agreeing with him. Minho stands up signalling for Fry and Newt to leave with him, so they do so. Now it is just Gally and Thomas left talking with Andrea sleeping in Gally's lap. Gally smiles-
"I told her she looked beautiful earlier, she asked me to repeat myself and I'm guessing she thought I wouldn't because when I did she hugged me and said thank you to me, along with a brief kiss on the cheek" he says whilst admiring Andrea sleeping once again. Thomas becomes a little jealous which Gally notices and doesn't like-
"Omg, you totally like her! That's why you keep asking questions" he says getting ready to pick Andrea up and go to bed. Thomas blurts out-
"Of course I like her, every guy in this glade likes her but they don't say anything because they know that she makes you happy. Did you know that they collectively made the decision not to go after Andrea because she makes you a better person, and they love seeing you happy?" he says, immediately regretting ever opening his mouth. Gally glares at him-
"I like Andrea. If you do too then that's fine but so help me god if she chooses you and you hurt her, I will literally kill you" he says as his rage gets the better of him. He quickly realises that he got too angry and slowly picks Andrea up and carries her to her hut and places her down comfortably. Gally sits down in his chair not being able to sleep because he usually talks to Andrea when things get this heated. He starts fidgeting with his knife that he carved with Andrea in the woods, but he drops it. He looks straight at Andrea to see if he woke her and holds his breath as she moves to get comfortable again. She stops and slowly opens her eyes and Gally lets out a frustrated sigh knowing he woke her up. Without any details at all Andrea knew Gally was angry so she tapped her bed suggesting for him to go and cuddle with her. He lays down and Andrea lays as she did once before, with her head on his chest and his arms wrapped around her. She places her hand on top of his which calms him down within seconds. She looks up at him wondering what was going on-
"What's wrong Gally? Is everything okay?" she says tracing her thumb around the palm of his hand. Gally looks at Andrea and immediately feels better-
"It's Thomas, he made me feel guilty about our friendship because the boys have this secret agreement that they won't go after you as long as we are friends because they know you make me a better person. They all like you, especially Thomas, and I feel that I am now in everybody's way and that they can't tell you how they feel about you" he says while playing with Andrea's hair. Andrea can't help but smile-
"Gally, the reason the boys don't tell me how they feel isn't because of some stupid agreement they made. It's because I told them that I would never go for any of them. As for Thomas, don't let a greenie tell you what you can and can't do and who you can and can't be friends with. You are their leader, it's respectful of them to not go for me. That's why they haven't, don't let Thomas get in your head" she explains whilst still tracing little love hearts on Gally's hand. He calms down and he kisses her forehead before falling to sleep.
