*It has been a month since Andrea came up in the box, she and Gally are very close along with the other boys*
Andrea has spent the whole day in her hut excited for a new greenie to arrive, she can't wait to meet them whether they are a boy like usual or a girl like herself. Gally knocks on her door letting her know that the box has come up and she sprints to it with Gally following behind making sure she doesn't fall. Newt jumps inside the box trying to calm down the new greenie but it doesn't work as he shoots up and starts running to the maze entrance. Everybody looks at Andrea giving her permission to run after him so he doesn't go into the maze, so she starts running. Minho stands amazed at how fast she is and as he goes to say something she tackles the greenie to the floor and he hits his head on the way down. She stands up and puts out her hand to help him up but he pushes it away and stands up himself. To calm him down Andrea decides to introduce herself because she remembers that is what helped her calm down, Gally introducing himself to her.
"Hi I'm Andrea! You're alright, I promise. Nothing bad will ever happen to you here, I give you my word on that!"
The boys approach from behind hearing what she said, it puts a smile on Gally's face as he knows he said the exact same thing to her the first time they talked. Minho notices and nudges him-
"What are you smiling about big guy?" he asked and without any thought of what he was about to say Gally responded-
"That was what I told her the first time I met her, she remembers". He quickly realises what he said and walks up to her and the greenie giving Minho absolutely no time to make jokes.
"Greenie, meet Gally. Don't worry, we will take really good care of you but first you need your tour. I will go get Newt, Gally make sure he doesn't do anything stupid for a minute please!" she says as she walks off trying to find Newt. Gally and the greenie stare at her whilst she walks away, the greenie decides to say-
"You like her don't you?" with a patient look on his face waiting for Gally to answer. Gally takes a deep breath before replying-
"Totally, is it really that obvious? Everybody says that, how did you know?" he asks sincerely.
"Well it is obvious that you run this place and she is the only one who you let boss you around. I have been here all of two minutes and I can see that. Does she like you back?" he says, questioning their situation.
"I don't know, I never thought of it like that. Please don't say anything to anyone, especially not Andrea!" he says without giving himself a second to breathe.
"Of course I won't, oh look here they come. You should definitely tell her how you feel though!" the greenie says like he is their biggest supporter. Andrea approaches them with Newt by her side and introduces him to the greenie. Before leaving them to his tour she lets them know that there will be a bonfire that night and they both have to attend! She walks away with gally and the greenie decides to talk to Newt about Gally and Andrea.
"So what's up with those two? Are they a couple or something?" he asks softly, just wanting to know about their situation. Newt giggles a little before answering the question-
"Well they do couple things like hold hands, sleep in each other's hut, make eachother food but they both deny any feelings for eachother. They say they are "bestfriends" which is totally stupid given their chemistry" he replies. The greenie starts stuttering as he asks Newt a more personal question-
"S-She is um- she's so beautiful, is it only Gally that thinks the same thing or is it everyone else too?"
"We all think the same thing but considering how happy she makes him we have all collectively decided to be respectful and not go for her. And she makes him a better person, if she didn't come up in the box when she did we would all be so screwed" he says laughing at the thought of Gally being the person he used to be. Hours go by and it's time for the bonfire, Andrea and Gally go and get ready together which is no surprise anymore. They both walk out of Gally's hut and walk over to where Newt, Minho and the greenie are sitting. Andrea gives Gally a kiss on the cheek as he goes to play his usual game, the greenie stares and can't help but ask the question nobody else has asked-
"So Andrea, why aren't you and Gally dating? I mean you both share this amazing chemistry it's so bizarre for you not to be dating him" he asks whilst looking at Newt for reassurance. She stays silent for a minute until she revealed the well-known and expected truth-
"Gally and I are just friends, I don't know why everybody thinks we are something more" she says confidently. Before anybody has the chance to say something else Gally shouts in the greenies direction wanting to know whether he wants to play the game. The greenie looks at Andrea wondering what the game consists of so she lets him know-
"You have to try and get Gally outside of the circle whilst making sure he doesn't do the same to you. I say there is no point considering nobody has ever beaten him-" she gets cut off by Minho adding to her unfinished sentence -
"Except Andrea, she beats him every single time" he smiles towards Andrea knowing he is making the relationship rumors worse. The greenie stands up and walks towards Gally taking his challenge. Andrea looks at Gally making sure he doesn't unnecessarily hurt the greenie. Gally starts pushing him around the circle and he falls face first onto the floor. Andrea shoots up with the motherly instinct she has and makes sure the greenie isn't hurt and she glares at Gally making it known that he shouldn't go that hard on him. The greenie gets back up and without hesitation, he tackles Gally to the floor pushing him outside the circle. There is a sudden silence in the glade as the gladers rush back to their huts knowing not to be there when Gally's bad side comes out. Minho looks at Andrea signalling for her to calm him down and before she even stands up Gally jumps to his feet and takes a swing at the greenie making him fall to the floor hitting his head on the sand beneath them. Andrea rushes over checking to see if he was okay before calling for the medjacks who were observing from their huts. They sprint over to the greenie at Andrea's orders but the greenie gasps and sits himself up startling everyone around him.
"Thomas" he says trying to gather his breathe but also get his point across-
"My name is Thomas!". Seconds later the silence is disturbed by cheering and whistling from the supportive gladers who know the feeling of remembering their names. Andrea glares at Gally and walks back to her hut pushing through the crowd of gladers to get there, Gally catches up to her grabbing her hand and stopping her in her path. He turns her around and looks her in the eyes knowing that he has to apologize-
"Ray, I'm sorry. I honestly didn't mean to hit him. I don't know what came over me. Please talk to me. Ray?" he stares at her blank expression and lets go of her hand. She looks at him and realises how sorry he is and gives in-
"It's okay, I know you didn't mean to hurt him. But I want you to go over there and apologize to him. You don't have to explain yourself to me, this is your life. This is who you are. I can't judge you for that. You are a violent person and you can't help that and I have told you that it doesn't bother me because I know when I'm around you can control it" she says with a more relaxed posture. He looks dead at her with teary eyes-
"You forgive me? Just like that?" he questioned knowing that sometimes she can be very stubborn. She nods saying "Yes of course I forgive you idiot, you're my best friend. I can't stay mad at you for long!". He smiles and makes his way over to Thomas so he can apologize. He walks off but can't find Thomas right away.
Thomas looks at Newt and Minho in confusion as to why Gally needed to apologize to Andrea and just by his facial expression Newt had an answer for him-
"Gally was a very violent person before Andrea. He was a bossy, strict, uptight, scary, terrifying person but that all changed the day he met Andrea. So whenever he gets too violent or does something he shouldn't have done he thinks he needs to apologize to her although it doesn't actually bother her that he's violent. She just doesn't like to see the gladers get hurt". He looks to the floor and sighs before Minho interrupts him-
"Don't get any wrong ideas though, Gally is violent but Andrea is even worse. Don't ever get on her bad side because you won't make it out alive" he says whilst giggling to himself. He looks up to find Gally approaching them after finally finding Thomas. As he walks closer Thomas begins to back away as though he is scared of him.
"Hey, I'm sorry about earlier. Friends?" He asks whilst slightly looking over at Andrea to see her face light up, he knows that she has totally forgiven him now. Thomas stares at him for a brief moment before shaking his hand and sitting back down.
"Andrea and I are heading to bed, make sure you put out the fire before you guys go to sleep!" he ordered with a little smile so he didn't come across too bossy. Thomas watches Gally walk away and be greeted by Andrea outside of her hut. They then both walk inside and head to bed just as Gally said they would. Thomas gets a little jealous as he has developed a liking towards Andrea and asks the boys a question-
"So considering they aren't a couple, do they sleep together? It definitely looks like it to me" he says locking his eyes back on the boys. Newt and Minho share the same look before Minho looks dead at Thomas-
"No they don't. She sleeps in her hammock and he sleeps on the chair next to her. It is very cute now that I think about it. He does it to make sure she's safe". Thomas can't help but ask another question-
"How long has it been like that for? You know, him sleeping in her hut making sure she's safe?". Newt giggles a little as he notices Thomas has a slight crush on Andrea.
"The first ever time was her first night here. She got super drunk at the bonfire and fell asleep on his shoulder. He took her to her hut and she has asked him to stay because she didn't feel comfortable on her own" he smiles knowing they are both so happy. Thomas frowns-
"Why him though? Why not one of you guys?" he asked. Minho remembered what Gally said earlier and decided to answer Thomas's question-
"On Andrea's first day it was absolute chaos considering she was the first ever girl and Gally helped her calm down and made her feel safe. Do you remember what she said to you earlier? She gave you her word that nothing would ever happen to you, right? He said the exact same thing to her on her first day. They just share this connection". Thomas looks towards the ground and decides that he has had enough fun for one night and makes his way to his hammock. He stares at the empty sky for hours, unable to sleep until it finally reaches morning as he saw Newt by the maze doors watching Minho run into the maze. He gets up, chucks on his boots and makes his way to the maze entrance. Andrea wakes up to Gally admiring her peacefully sleeping-
"Staring at me once again are we Gally?" she giggles and makes her way over to him for their daily hug. They both walk out hand in hand ready for the day when Gally stops jolting Andrea back a step-
"Hey Gally, are you okay?". He continues to stare out into the distance and it gets Andrea a little worried and she can't see what he's looking at.
*She softly grabs his face and positions it facing towards her* "Gally, what's going on?". He quickly snaps out of it-
"Thomas, he's by the maze entrance. You should go get him" he says as he lets go of her hand knowing she is going to run to the rescue as always. He whispers to himself-
"Yep that's my Andrea, always saving the day" he smiles to himself and walks over to Fry who is making breakfast for everyone. Andrea rushes over to Thomas, grabbing his hand and pulling him backwards-
"What do you think you're doing?" she asks whilst inches away from his face. He doesn't know what to say as he hasn't seen this side of Andrea yet-
"I was just looking, I promise" he says and Andrea helps him off the floor. She glares at him which notifies him not to ever do that again. They both make their way over to the others, Andrea going to sit next to Gally and Thomas going to sit next to Newt. Andrea takes out her knife (the same one that Gally let her keep on her first day) and starts carving at a piece of wood she found on the floor from the bonfire before. After Gally finishes eating, he and Andrea head up to the watch tower where they both lay looking at the sky bickering about what shapes the clouds are. Thomas notices the happiness between them both and it makes him happy yet deeply disappointed. Minho joins Thomas and Newt after returning from his run saying-
"It's hard, watching the girl you like be happy with someone else. I mean believe me, every guy in this entire glade feels the same way about Andrea that you do. You can't do anything with her though''. This confuses Thomas as he is aware that there is nothing going on between Gally and Andrea-
"Hold on, they have both said that they aren't dating, but nobody else is allowed to date her? Why?". Minho giggles as he has always asked the same exact questions-
"It's against the glade rules. Nobody is allowed to touch her or be in a relationship with her without her permission. Something as simple as putting your hand on her shoulder will get you thrown in the slammer". Newt decides to add onto what Minho had said seconds previously-
"Also whether they are dating or not doesn't matter, they clearly love each other and that's enough for us so we leave her alone. Bury your feelings deep tommy, you won't ever get a chance" he laughs.
