Chapter 6: Untold Promises
Princess
"Leave me alone. Leave me a. . ." I started, rolling over in my bed and quickly fell back into a deep sleep again.
"Leave me alone. I didn't do anything to you." I said to Allen Parker, my older sister's boyfriend.
He had me trapped in the corner behind the school. He backed me up behind this dumpster so no one could us.
"I don't like how you just stopped talking to me, Princess. We were such good friends. You really hurt my feelings." He poked out his brown lips.
"No, Allen. Damn. I told you I couldn't be friends with you because of my sister. Now, leave me alone." I sternly said, looking into his dark brown eyes.
His caramel tinted face turned red in his cheeks and his nostrils started to flare, but I looked away. I attempted to walk past him, but he grabbed me by my forearms, slamming my poor defenseless body up against the brick wall. He leaned down close to my face, and as he was about to say something, someone pulled him off of me.
"Didn't I tell yo' lil dumb ass to leave her alone?" His voice asked, bringing a slight smile to my face.
I watched as he plummeted Allen's body down into the ground from blow after blow to the face. I found myself chuckling for a second until I saw blood coming from Allen's face.
"Hey. Hey. Hey. Let's go, Vincent." I said, pulling on his navy blue shirt.
"Aight." He panted, grabbing my hand.
He led us off into the backwoods behind the school. He had let go of my hand once we made it onto the small wooden bridge leading across a stream into the local park of the city we lived in. It was still morning, so no one was really out. I shyly grabbed onto my backpack straps.
"Thank you for that. I know you didn't have to." I told him meekly.
"Yeah, but I wanted to. He too old to be fuckin' wit' chu anyway. Plus, you cool peoples." Prince shook his head, throwing a rock over the edge of the bridge.
"Yeah, but I'm used to it. I guess." I shrugged my shoulders.
"It ain't no I guess. Niggas need to stop fuckin' wit' chu. They not as long as I'm around. You my friend." Vincent countered.
I smiled, looking over at him. He then looked over at me and smiled a crooked smile. I bit down on my bottom lip, grabbing his hand.
"Every Princess needs a Prince." I replied.
"Then I will protect you from any and everything till you don't need me anymore, and I like that name. Call me dat for now on." He said, sticking out his pinky finger.
"Okay and I promise the same thing, Prince." I smiled, looping our pinkies together.
We nodded our heads at each other and lifted our interlocked pinkies in the air.
"Prince!" I screamed, sitting up in a cold sweat in my bed.
I looked over at the clock on the nightstand next to me and saw it was 4:45 in the morning. I sighed, pulling my knees up to my chest. Laying my head on top my knees, I slightly rocked myself back and forth on top of the hard, metal mattress with my eyes closed.
This promise was killing me more and more each day, man. I needed to get out of town, and I needed to get out of here fast. I was going to talk to Prince about it tomorrow.
