Chapter 4: Strange

Princess

"You good, baby girl?" Prince asked on the other line.

"Yeah. I'm good. Just tired, you know." I yawned, lying back on my motel bed.

This had been my home for about three weeks now. It was deep east, and away from all of Johnny's territories. He hadn't found me yet, and I was more than happy. I couldn't afford to leave to go to some other place right now.

"I told you you ain't gotta keep runnin'. Just move away." He suggested.

"And leave you? I don't think so, Prince. You helped me get away from Allen, and Johnny and I'm going to help you too." I declined.

I stood up the hard bed and walked over to the mini fridge by the door.

"I 'preciate dat, Princess. You da real M.V.P., but I'ma have to call you next Tuesday. A nigga's twenty minutes up." He said, bringing a frown to my face.

I sighed, grabbing the baloney from the door of the fridge along with two pieces of wheat bread, and mustard.

"Aight, nigga. You take care of yo' self in there. You member da promise." I smiled, mashing the sandwich together.

I took a bite, enjoying the tangy taste of the mustard and lite salty meat.

"Neva forgot it, foo'. Bye." He chuckled, hanging up the phone.

"Ugh!" I huffed, throwing my phone over on the bed.

Why couldn't you love me enough to let me go? I shook my head, and took another bite out of my sandwich. I started pacing the floor, getting lost in thoughts of what I was going to do with my life when someone knocked on the door. I stopped in my tracks, trying to really listen for any voices, and the knocking didn't happen again. Waiting a few more seconds, I slowly walked over to the big window and peeked out of the dark purple drapes seeing no one. I looked down the balcony and saw no one except streetlights and other room doors.

"What the fuck, man?" I asked aloud.

I walked over to the door cautiously and unlocked it. I twisted the knob, pulling it open.

"Ah!" I screamed.

I jumped back, covering my mouth with my hand. Tears instantly filled my eyes and I slowly backed away from the crime scene at hand. There lay a body of a beaten up woman at my doorstep with the initials J.B. carved into her chest. She was a black woman with long, black hair, and a slim figure. She had on a jean skirt that was halfway off of her hips, a shirt that was ripped open, and blood was smeared all over her face, arms, chest and legs. Her eyes were opened and the expression on her face told me that she died in a horrible and painful way.

He knew where I was.

"No. No. No. I have to go." I panicked, slamming the door closed.

Kay (Kayjah)

My heels click-clacked on the pavement of the street as I stepped out of my car and walked over to the valet boy. I handed him my keys along with a crisp fifty dollar bill. Precious, Mesha and Stacy went over to the door while I followed behind them after making sure my car was in good hands. I watched as Stacy went back and forth with the security guard in a heated conversation and I stepped in front of her with my eyebrows raised.

"Is there a problem, Stace?" I asked her, staring straight up at the dark skin man.

He was cute and cocky, he could have played football if he wanted to.
