t h e l i n eAn hour and a half later, students all over the
lecture hall began to collect their things as the class had ended. As I was packing my things, I was stopped by a handful as they thanked me for stepping up to take the role. After a few quick thank you's, I was about to make my way down to talk to Professor Kim, but was soon stopped by Minhyuk grabbing my hand. "Mona, are you sure about this? You need that scholarship and taking this role is only going to weigh you down."
With a small smile of reassurance, I slipped my arm out of his grasp and patted his shoulder. "I know that, and this is a huge risk that I am taking. But I will never, ever have the chance of working with Stephen Kim again like I do now. I'm willing to lose my chance at a scholarship for that."
With a shaky sigh, Minhyuk nodded his head and grabbed his bag. "Even if I think it's a bad idea, I trust your intuition more than anything in this world. I have another class starting soon, so I'll call you later."
Saying a quick goodbye, I finally made my way down the lecture hall's steps to see Professor Kim closing his laptop and putting it in his briefcase. He glanced up upon hearing my footsteps and smiled as a greeting.
"Well, if it isn't the hero of the day. I must say Miss Kwon, I applaud your drive and confidence to take this role."
Quickly thanking him, I watched as he closed his briefcase and grabbed his coat, gesturing me to follow him. As we exited the lecture hall and made way for the new students who were arriving for their next class, I looked back at the professor weaving his way through the hallways to get to his office.
"So, Professor Kim, when you say I have a lot of work ahead of me, what did you exactly mean?" A deep chuckle erupted from his chest as the two of us finally arrived at his office.
Upon opening the door, he gestured for me to sit as he seated himself behind his desk. "Miss Kwon, are you a fan of Stephen Kim?".
My eyes lit up at the question as I nodded my head aggressively as Professor Kim continued. "Then you know how particular he is about his shows and how it will go. You see, Stephen was supposed to have the show planned a month ago. However, he has ran himself through 8 different event coordinators who have refused to work with him."
I became confused when I heard the abrupt news. My fashion icon might completely ruin himself and his brand if no one can plan his event. So, why give a task this huge to a group of college kids?
Professor Kim saw the confusion on his face and smiled. "I can see your confusion is beginning to show. You're probably wondering why this is your final project, correct?"
Nodding my head slowly, he continued. "Well, I decided for it happen based on 2 things; one, Stephen owes me a favour and I thought that this would be the best time to cash in on it."
I watched Professor Kim lean in over his desk, a devilish smile painted on his lips. "The second reason is a bit more evil. You are all college students taking a course that is required for your degree. You all are the best option to run this show because you literally have everything to lose if it fails."
My eyes widened in shock as I pieced it all together in my mind. Any event coordinator can walk out on the fashion show as they can be easily booked by anyone else. There is little to no room for failure on their end.
But for us? We all need a good grade in this class to graduate. If we, no, if I fail and ruin this show, not only will we not pass the class but we'll be known as the people who ruined Stephen Kim.
"With that being said, I completely understand if you want to back out of this role. But if you stay and accept to lead your classmates, I have full faith that you will go down in history for being a legend."
"How can you be so sure Professor?"
The middle-aged man shrugged his shoulders and leaned back into his chair. "Because, you are the first person to ever volunteer for this role. That is how I am sure."
I contemplated over my options for a bit, but with every possibility I thought off, none stood out to me more than keeping the role I volunteered for.
With as much confidence I could, I looked straight into Professor Kim's eyes. "I'll do it. And I'll make sure it is the best runway anyone in Seoul has ever seen."
A proud look was displayed on the man's face as he handed me a folder of documents. "This is a copy of the class attendance and important roles for the day of. But, you actually have a big job to do right now."
"You need to get Park Seonghwa to agree to be in the show."
