It was a cool, crisp evening in Liones Castle. It had been a long day. Everyone but Ban and Elaine had gone home. Elizabeth was sat in front of the fire. A blanket wrapped around her shoulders.
"I am the Grandmaster Holy Knight Tristan! I am here to challenge The Holy Knight Lancelot to a sword battle!" Tristan yelled as he held up a wooden sword.
"Why do you get to be Grandmaster" Lancelot pouted as he held up his wooden spear.
"Because it is my birthday and my house!"
"Fine, Then I, Holy Knight Lancelot challenge you for the role of Grandmaster!" Lancelot grinned as both boys started the duel.
"Oh, it is on!" Tristan shouted.
"Like Father like son" Elaine shook her head.
"Yeah. This one gave this scar and your boy scared my boy" Ban sang as he hooked his arm around Meliodas.
3 hours later Meliodas was stood in the middle of the room with Ban. Both trying to calm two hyper children down.
"Tristan, Will you sit down!" Meliodas ordered. He pointed to the sofa.
"Lancelot, Park it" Ban pointed to the spot next to where Meliodas just pointed "You both need to settle down. It's getting late"
"But Dadddddd! I wanna stay up!" Lancelot frowned. The boys stopped bouncing "You can't stop me Dad" Ban narrowed his eyes at the lad. Lancelot didn't flinch.
"I ain't tired and it's my birthday so I should get to stay up" Tristan bounced on the sofa.
"You two never went to bed on time. Mum said as much" Lancelot looked over at Elaine. Elaine looked away and pretended that she didn't say anything.
"They have a point" Ban smiled as he sat on the sofa "Fine. Another half an hour" Lancelot and Tristan cheered as they high fived each other.
"They will regret it tomorrow" Meliodas sighed. He flopped down next to Elizabeth.
All was good. Lancelot was slowing down and was trying to hug up to Elaine. Ban was passed out on the sofa. Meliodas and Elizabeth were still sat in front of the fire and Tristan was stood at the window. Elizabeth craned her neck to see what the boy was going.
"Go and talk to him" Elizabeth nudged Meliodas with her elbow. Meliodas spun his head around. Meliodas jumped to his feet.
"Hey, shortround. You okay?" Meliodas put his hand on the lad's shoulder.
"Yeah. Just thinking" Tristan nodded but kept his gaze on the window.
"What's got ya cogs turning?"
"Gowther showed me your past"
"I see" Meliodas pinched his lips together. Meliodas took his hand away and lent on the wall "What did he show you?"
"Everything that he knew. You're over 3000 years old?"
"Yeah, Give or take a few decades" Meliodas wiggled his pinky in his ear.
"You died a lot. As did Mum"
"Is that the only thing that was bugging you?" Meliodas raised an eyebrow. Tristan shrugged his shoulders. A tear dropped down Tristan's cheek. Meliodas pulled his son into a tight hug "Yes we died. Your Mother died more than me but we are still here"
"I know"
"Is that all he showed you?" Meliodas rubbed his Son's back.
"No. He could only show me some things" Tristan shook his head "He couldn't show me what you did for 3000 years"
"Shall I tell you the story? Of what I did for 3000 years and how I met all my friends?" Meliodas smiled as Tristan's eyes lit up.
"Can you tell me about the other Elizabeth's?"
"Come sit down" Meliodas lead the lad back to the fireplace. Ban was now awake.
"You okay kid?" Ban yawned. Tristan nodded. Tristan hugged up against his Mother.
"So, You wanna know what I did for 3000 years?" Meliodas sat on the floor. Tristan nodded again. Lancelot agreed "What do you wanna know?"
"Can you tell the story about the day that you fought the Gods"
