"So, did you spill the tea about you two when you got drunk?" Ban sighed. Meliodas looked away.
"I might have said something about someone but never gave a name" Meliodas scratched the back of his neck.
"You said that you met the woman of your dreams and when I asked you about her, You told me that she isn't a demon and that is all you would tell me" Zeldris folded his arms.
"Is that how you guys got found out?" Gelda crossed her legs. Meliodas shrugged.
"I might have asked someone to stalk you" Zeldris mumbled. Meliodas turned his head slowly to his brother.
"So, that's how dad found out" Meliodas growled.
"Actually, Dad told me about you two. I said that I didn't believe him. When I went to the rocks to train and break things. That's when you turned up. Told me that you were leaving to be with Elizabeth"
"How did your old man know?" Lancelot rose his hand.
"Through our commandments, since they were part of his power anyway" Zeldris shrugged.
"So he could see everything?" Tristan looked between the adults "Like when you go for a wee?"
"No, He could feel our emotions, See our thoughts and dreams" Meliodas sighed.
"So he could read minds? Like Mum can?" Lancelot looked at Elaine.
"Only if you hold a commandment" Meliodas pointed to the kids. Ban then looked at Elaine and back at Lancelot. Elaine nodded once. Ban then stood up and grabbed Lancelot by the trousers.
"Hey, put me down!" Lancelot fought back "Dad, Put me down!"
"Not chance kiddo. We need to go and last time I said we are leaving, You and this half-pint legged it down the hall" Ban spoke as Lancelot wiggled "Kiddo. Stop it. I ain't letting go"
"But I need to hear more stories" Lancelot whimpered.
"And we also need to go home" Ban narrowed his eyes at his son. And then threw him over his shoulder.
"One day, I will be back and I will hear more stories" Lancelot kicked. Ban just stood there and took it. Elaine sighed and flew towards the pair. She cupped Lancelot's chin and made him look at her.
"Then carry on fighting and you won't be back till you are 16!" Elaine warned. Lancelot looked at his mother with wide eyes, Crossed his arms and sulked. Ban turned his head to his best friend.
"Elizabeth, Thank you for having us" Ban bowed. Nearly dropping Lancelot on his head "Captain, See you next year!"
"Bye-bye" Meliodas waved. Elaine and Elizabeth shared a hug goodbye.
"Next birthday then" Elaine smiled.
"10 more moons" Elizabeth nodded "It will fly bye"
"Yes, it will. Right, Laters" Ban waved as he and his family left.Soon, It was just Elizabeth, Meliodas and their son. Zeldris and Gelda had to leave also. They had matters to attend to back in the Demon Realm.
"So what do you want to do today? We got the whole day free" Meliodas put his feet up on the footstool.
"We could go for a picnic?" Elizabeth smiled.
"Or sword training?" Tristan clenched his fists and he stood on his feet.
"I don't think that is wise" Elizabeth wiggled her head. Tristan frowned.
"Why?"
"I haven't picked up a sword in 10 years" Meliodas huffed.
"What better time than now to pick one up!" Tristan said with glee.
"Look, I just don't want to" Meliodas refused.
"Why? Afraid I could beat you if you had nothing but a twig!" Tristan taunted. Meliodas stared at his son. Tristan smirked "Scared old man?"
"Old man?" Meliodas frowned as he slowly stood up. Elizabeth didn't move which surprised Tristan "You think that is wise?"
"I ain't afraid, old man" Tristan shrugged. Deep down, He was afraid of his father. Truth be told, He was more afraid of his mother. Meliodas licked his lips as his eyes turned a deep purple. Tristan shivered "Is that all you got?"
"Oh, you shouldn't have asked that Little boy" Meliodas spoke with a dark tone. Purple swirls covered his arms. Meliodas held his hand out in front of him. Purple smoke circled around Tristan. Tristan refused to move. Meliodas titled his head at his son "Either you have no fear, Or you are scared to move. Which is it?"
"Dad, I ain't scared of you" Tristan's lip trembled. Meliodas smirked as the smoke turned into tentacles. Each one edging closer and closer to the boy. Meliodas smirked as one tentacle wrapped itself around Tristan's ankle and hoisted him in the air. Upside down.
"Still not scared?" Meliodas waved his hand. The other tentacles moved closer to Tristan.
"Mother, Apologies for this" Tristan looked at Elizabeth and then back at his father "Fuck you" He yelled as he clawed at the tentacle. The other tentacles grabbed Tristan remaining limbs and moved him in the upright position.
"You have courage. I respect that. But you are not honest with yourself. You are afraid of the darkness that has hold of you" Meliodas walked up to his son, Hands behind his back "Being afraid of something does not make you weak"
"Your father is right" Elizabeth stood up "It takes a great deal of courage to stand up to an enemy but even more so when you are afraid of them"
"So, Are you afraid boy?" Meliodas lowered Tristan till he was at head height.
"Yes," Tristan finally admitted. Looking away in shame. Tears fell from his dual coloured eyes. Meliodas removed the darkness and pulled Tristan in for a hug.
"Don't ever be ashamed for being afraid" Meliodas mumbled into his son's hair.
"Is that why you won't pick up a sword?" Tristan uttered. Meliodas nodded.
"I never liked raising a sword to fight people because I was too strong for them" Meliodas rubbed his son's back "You know the stories. I was deadly"
"But you trained Uncle Gil! He wasn't much older than me!" Tristan replied as he lifted his head up. Meliodas scratched his chin.
"But I was only using a wooden sword and Gil was already in training to become a holy knight" Meliodas let his son go "His father was a grandmaster and so was his uncle. He had more teachers than me"
"But you are the leader of The Seven Deadly Sins. Everyone knew of you! Why can't you teach me?"
"Why do you want me to teach you so badly"
"I can't sit around and watch the world burn" Tristan's fists clenched "I want to be able to protect the people of this world"
"And there is nothing wrong with that" Meliodas smiled proudly at his child.
"So will you train me?" Tristan pleaded with his father.
"Meliodas, Can I have a word?" Elizabeth put a hand on her husband shoulder. Meliodas nodded and stood on the other side of the room."What's up?"
"I think you should train him" Elizabeth sighed. Meliodas turned his back to Tristan.
"Really?" Meliodas mumbled "I could get someone to train me. I could ask Dreyfus or Hendrickson"
"Our boy doesn't want anyone training him" Elizabeth looked softly at the Demon "He wants you. Not because you were a holy knight. Or because you are a King. Or even the Leader of The Seven Deadly Sins. He wants you because you are his father"
"I don't know" Meliodas admitted. He rubbed the back of his head.
"Just try it" Elizabeth insisted "He's got the skill already. He just needs more discipline"
"I don't know" Meliodas shook his head "I could fail him"
"You trained Gilthunder enough to get through what Vivan and Hendrickson did to him. You need to give yourself more credit" Meliodas looked back at his son. Who was staring into the fire "Just try it" Meliodas took a deep breath.
"Tristan?" He spun around. Tristan rolled onto his side.
"Yes, Dad?"
"Training starts tomorrow" Meliodas smiled. Tristan's face exploded into a grin as he scrambled to his feet. He rushed to father and tackled him to the floor.
"Thanks, dad. I won't let you down" Tristan squeezed his Father's waist "I will make you proud"
"You do that every day" Meliodas hugged his son back "Now get off me. We need to go to the woodworkers"
"Why?" Tristan tilted his head.
"You asked for a sword yesterday for your birthday" Meliodas leaned on his elbows "So you can have a wooden sword for starters and work you way up to a steel sword"
"Really?!?! Thank you Dad!" Tristan yelled as he hugged his father again "Can we go for a picnic for lunch?"
