Hello everyone!!! I'm back to publish another chapter :) Interesting one, hope you enjoy it!
"How are we going to do that?" I asked. "All airports will probably be against sending flights if I'm a national threat. Plus, I can't show my face anywhere in public."
Erica nodded, like she had already taken this matter into consideration, which she probably did. "Don't worry," she replied. "Do you remember the British Embassy?"
I nodded my head. She smiled, continuing. "We go there. I can get in, no problem, and you guys will trail along with me. Procuring an Mi6 jet honestly shouldn't be that hard. The US will have no problem sending us out of the country, especially if I say I miss my mom and all that."
"We can stuff Ben into a suitcase!" Mike excitedly said, and I groaned, smacking my forehead. But it was the only logical way.
"We'll have to do that only if a US official comes to check," Erica simply replied. "Zoe, Mike, Jawa, none of you guys are potential threats. You guys can pose as my cousins, and we can all head to Britain. My mom knows about the issue here because Dad called her. But I've already communicated with her beforehand. She'll be expecting us."
This was exactly what I loved about Catherine Hale.
"Now," Erica spoke calmly, "we have to get to the British Embassy from here. It's about an hour's drive, maybe an hour and a half with traffic. Any ideas on how we can inconspicuously get there?"
Everyone was silent for a few moments, thinking about this in detail. Driving for a whole hour without being spotted was hard. Especially when I was wanted.
"Maybe," Zoe said after a bit, "we can steal one of those huge vans the CIA has."
"Isn't it a bit too risky to go back to the CIA, though?" I asked, mainly because I was scared for my life. Erica stared at me for a moment, but then nodded.
Mike smiled. "Look," he said, and everyone turned to the direction he was pointing in. "We could use that van."
It was a white van that said 'Stongholders Electricity and Water' on the side. There was only one window up front, like it was a goods transportation vehicle. Erica smirked, satisfied, then motioned for us to follow her.
"Okay. I can drive, and Jawa, you look tall enough to ride shotgun so we don't raise suspicion," Erica announced. "Ben, you cannot be seen. Zoe and Mike, stay with Ben, and if we make a stop, be ready to hide him away from sight."
Everyone murmured agreements and we sped to the van, which was locked. Erica picked it within seconds and hopped in. Whoever owned that van had stupidly left their keys in there, which worked to our advantage. Zoe, Mike and I piled into the back while Erica and Jawa sat in the front.
As soon as Erica made sure we were secure, she started the engine, and we drove off. Unfortunately, due to there being no windows in the back, I couldn't tell which direction we were going in and where we were.
The ride was bumpy, especially because the three of us were in the back, but neither Mike nor Zoe were complaining.
"This is so fun," Mike smiled. "We're on a mission!"
"Are you forgetting about the part where I'm wanted?" I asked. "There's no fun in that! Plus, our school blew up."
"Oh, come on, Smokescreen," Zoe sighed. "At least be grateful you don't have to sit through painful lectures anymore!"
"I liked sitting through painful lectures and boring homework sessions," I protested. "It is certainly much better than going on missions."
From up front, Jawa slid the slider open so he and Erica could communicate with us. "Oh, you're such a bore, Ben," Erica said, but her tone had a mild tease to it, like she was playing around with me. I could tell she was suppressing a smirk, and it made me turn pink. Luckily neither Mike nor Zoe saw it.
