Yay I'm back!!
Getting into the airport was no problem at all. Our tickets worked like they normally would for anyone, and before we knew it, we had checked in our suitcases and received our boarding passes for a direct flight from London straight to Singapore.
"It's been almost forever since I got on a plane," Mike sighed. "I can't even remember the last time I got to enjoy the comfort of air travel."
Zoe coughed. "Um, yesterday?" she said. "We came to London via a jet, not by swimming across the ocean."
"No, I mean a public flight. Like a normal citizen," Mike replied. "You know, as normal as it can get."
Catherine led us to the respective terminal. "All right," she smiled. "Now, we have about an hour and a half before the flight arrives and they permit us to board. If you want, you all can get something to eat."
In our rush to escape the safehouse and shop at the mall, I realized we'd been active with only a muffin or two in our stomachs. The moment I realized how hungry I was, my stomach growled and I eyed a McDonald's.
"Where's the gate, mom?" Erica asked. "It doesn't look like we're in the right terminal."
Catherine nodded. "We need to go to B5," she explained. "This is only B2. Our gate is on the far end. It's quite a walk."
"We've come this far," Erica said. "It'd be best if we can get to Singapore safely."
"You spoke too soon," Catherine whispered, and we immediately went on alert at the tone of her voice. The expression on her face changed from a calm expression to absolute terror.
"Catherine, wha-" Jawa began, but before he could say anything more, Catherine pulled out five small black devices and handed one to each of us.
"Run," she breathed. "Right now."
I didn't even bother to pause and ask her why she told us to do so. I broke into a sprint, bolting away from her as fast as I could. My friends followed, except they ran in four other directions. I immediately rushed into a men's restroom and sighed in relief when I found it empty. Placing the small device in my ear, I spoke. "Uh, Catherine?" I asked. "What's going on?"
There was a slight static, but I heard Catherine's voice. Though her face had conveyed fear, her melodious accent made her sound happy. "There's a slight setback," she sighed. "I spotted the CIA."
"Here? At Heathrow Airport?" Erica spoke. It was sort of like a conference call, except in one ear. "How?"
"That's awful," Zoe sighed. "I'm crammed in the ladies' restroom with some women addicted to mascara."
I heard Catherine's breathing. I assumed she was running as she said, "I'm trying to locate the source of where these agents came from. Michael, run! I see you! Go hide somewhere. Children, wherever you are, do not escape this area. They should never know what flight we're taking and where."
I slid out of the restroom, because I knew I couldn't be crammed in there forever. The CIA agents were on the hunt for us, and I was hiding in one of the most obvious places. I instantly found myself in the midst of a few people rushing to their gate to board their flight the moment the final boarding call arrived. Blending in with the crowd, I rushed to a gate for a flight to Germany.
Trying my best to hide, I slid into one of the chairs and tried my best to look inconspicuous. I had no idea if the CIA agents were dressed like agents or like normal people. I tried talking to my friends over the earpiece.
"Guys, where are you?" I asked.
"Some gate with a flight going to Germany in twenty minutes," Jawa replied. "I think I see you, Ben."
