(a/n: the bracelet looks like this)
I stare in shock at the glowing bracelet in my hands, no way, "like a gaming index and skill tree system?"
[yes]
I sigh in relief and thank bob "ok, what are you here for?"
[I am here to assist, monitor, and store data.]
"what can you do."
[inventory system, at the current moment you have five slots open, you can open more when you gather enough monster cores.]
[monitoring of stats, here you can monitor your growth.]
[map, the more you explore, the more that will appear on the map.]
[crafting, from different materials you find, will unlock blueprints to craft.]"handy, what are your limitations?"
[you cannot see, stats, index, or map without opening the system. but You can summon things from your inventory.]
"If I lost this bracelet will anyone be able to see its contents?"
[no. if anyone other than you, pick up this bracelet, it will be a normal piece of jewelry, if it is taken from you, it will return after a certain amount of time]
I sit and look out the window and see that is it around two in the afternoon. I stand up but then look at the bracelet and put it on. This is kind of like the pip-boy from fallout! Nice!
I shake Shiro awake and hand him the bread "what about you?" he asks, "I can make it to dinner." He sighs but eats.
"Should I get a job too?" he asks as we leave the hotel "I hate the idea but probably, at least in till we get stable."

For the next few hours, we walked around the city, going into different stores but being turn down. after a while, I decided to quit for the day and get dinner. Spotting a tavern, we enter, a waitress comes over and takes us to a table. After taking our orders I lay my head on the table and sigh, Shiro pats my back.
"you seem troubled kid. What's wrong?" a man next to us leans in his chair.
"I can't find a job."
"well, if you can't find a job you should become an adventurer go into the dungeon. It's one of the high risks, somewhat decent money jobs to high paying." He spoke.
"adventurer?" Shiro and I ask sitting up straight.
"have you been living under a rock kid?" he asked with a raised brow.
"Just got here. I have heard of the dungeon but just bits and pieces. Was in a pretty shelter place before these" I said, it wasn't exactly a lie. I can take a good guess of what the dungeon was in this fantasy setting. Thankful Shiro catches on and follows my lead.
"well, you go into the dungeon and kill monsters."
Called it.
"I would like to do that, but I have my 10-year-old boy to take care of," I said look at Shiro. "I could be an adventure too!" "we'll talk about it later." I wonder if he has a system as well.
"well, that's a shame," the man says, taking a drink, he looks like he's getting tipsy.
Shiro and I finish dinner and we head back to the hotel, I carry Shiro on my back.
The dungeon. a place where monsters roam. Sounds like every fantasy nerds dream, and I will not lie, I have dreamt about it too. But I have a brother to take care of and I am the only family he has left. But the dungeon could give me the means to take care of him. No more cold nights, no more empty stomach. He could live a normal life without the abuse of our former relative. Could it hurt to try? And I have the system, it might as well put it to use.

The next morning, I gather my bag and Shiro and head to the guild again, it couldn't hurt to look into the adventure business.
"Shiro we need a backstory to fit in. I was thinking half-truths" as we walk.
He thinks "half-truths?"
"well obviously we can't tell anyone about earth, but we can tell them about our family."
"I get it."
Upon entering the guild, I walk to an empty counter where a pretty elf stood ready "hello I am eina tulle, how can I help you?"
"what do you I have to do if I want to be an adventure? I haven't quite decided, and I wanted to be sure."
"well first are you part of a Familia?" eina asked as she grabs some papers.
"Familia?" I asked tilting my head to the side just a bit.
"you don't know about families?" she asked shocked.
"do you have a room that we could talk without everyone?"
She nods and leads us to a room.
We take a sit "sorry if this makes your job harder" I said to her before telling her half-truths.
"We come from afar and secluded village, and two years ago, my parents died, and we were left in the hands of my uncle who only took us in for the inheritance. He was unkind and violent. So, we left, with the clothes on our back and what little we had in a bag. We arrive yesterday and I tried looking for jobs, but no one was hiring so far, and I only have enough money for one more meal. I'm turning to the dungeon."
Eina was silent before sighing and rubbing her eyes "do you really want to do adventuring? I could ask around and see if I could find you a job."
"that would be helpful to get me on my feet, but I'll probably still try to go into the dungeon." I look at Shiro "I just need to get Shiro into a proper home."
Shiro joins in "I could help you with adventuring through Kyla!"
Eina cuts him off "you can't, there is an age limit, and it is fourteen." She looks at me. "I am fourteen"
*sigh* "you can go into the dungeon without a Familia, and others have done it, but it will be hard, and you can only stay on the first 3 floors. After that is off-limits without a Falna which is given to you when you join a god's Familia. I would recommend staying on the first floor at first to get used to the dungeon." eina hands me papers to sign. "I also recommend you take some guild-free armor and weapons; it should keep you safe on the first floor."
"should?" I look at her. "they're not the best I will admit but they're better than nothing." She says blushing. She's really pretty.
"do you know anyone trustworthy who takes care of kids for a day? I can't exactly take a 10-year-old down there. Do you know anyone who gives him a job?" Shiro huffs.
"I could take him around and ask."
"won't that interfere with your job?" I ask, worried we were causing her problems. She shakes her head.
She hands the armor (which was mostly leather, a chest plate, and gauntlets) and a sword and shield.
"thank you," I say with a smile.
"you're welcome. come back alive."
"I will I'm not leaving my brother alone in the world, don't you worry," I say with a determined glint in my eyes.
