chapter 5

They walk me to the entrance of the dungeon, I turn to Shiro who glares at the floor "Shiro, I'm sorry you can't come with me, but is for your safety. Follow eina but kept that knife on you ok. I'll be back." With a kiss to his forehead, I turn and make my way to the dungeon, excitement growing in my chest.

I enter the tower and begin and make my way to the first floor, along the way down, after making sure no one was around, I say "index" the gem glows before a small screen appears from it.

"stats"

[Stats:]
[level:1]
[health: 50]
[strength: 15]
[agility: 15]
[stamina: 15]
[luck: 10]
[mana: 0]

I guess this is average.

[yes. As you fight these stats will increase]

"map"

The screen grows a bit then reveals a map, it shows the city and where I have been, much is still blank. "current location" the map changes and show the stairway I am in. cool.

Soon the dungeon releases my first enemy.
The first creature I face was a small green goblin, I think. It carried a small club; I raised my sword this may be one of the easiest monsters, but I was alert. I have seen goblin slayer.

It shrieks and rushes at me in a fast paste and swings, making me raise the shield, it hits, the force behind it swings surprises me and makes me stumble back. It follows, swinging wildly and I quickly learn to not take all the hits, for that weakens my arm fast.

I throw the shield away and dodge, I was now lighter, finally, I gather the courage to swing the sword, the goblin dodges only to be greeted by a kick, sending it to the ground, wasting no time I stab it, putting all my strength into it. With one last shriek, it shudders and explodes into a cloud of smoke and sparkles.

I breath hard and wipe the sweat from my brow, it was only a minute or so but feels as if I tried to run a mile. God this is going to be a pain.

*crack*

I look to the walls, the stone breaks revealing more goblins coming though. I raise my sword "all alright come on you Bastards."

I lean against the wall of the dungeon, breathing heavily, small crystals surrounding me, I had somehow, defeated 20 goblins, though not at the same time and not without some injuries, but surprisingly not bad.

"index"

The screen appears once more in the air, "stats."

[Stats:]
[level:1]
[health: 50]
[strength: 15]
[agility: 15]
[stamina: 15]
[luck: 10]
[mana: 0]

Slowly I gather all the crystals from the ground, plus the shield I tossed, and take a drink of water, "index, is there a way for me to collect all the crystals at the same time?"

[there is a feature for you to collect the crystals if you are in proximity. Would you like to purchase it?]
[ It will be 10 crystals.]
[yes/no]

"yes"

[feature purchased]

That is a good investment if I do say so myself. Well, I still have a long day to go, better get moving.

Hours went by as I killed goblins for what seemed left and right, hardly any breaks, they just kept coming. I wonder if other adventures deal with numbers like this.

"index what is the time?"

[5:15]

God, I have been in here all day, *sigh* good time to stop. Shiro might be getting worried.

I made my way back up to the surface praying that I won't encounter more goblins. Surprisingly, I didn't. yay. God, I am so tired.

I exit the dungeon, breathed in the fresh air, and stretch.

"Kyla!" Before I could react, I was hit by a fast projectile and fell to the ground. It was Shiro hugging my waist, slightly shaking.

"he was worried about you." I look up and see eina with a smile on her face and a look of relief.

I sit up and hug Shiro "told you I'd be back," I look at her "and thank you for taking care of him. Sorry if we were a bother to you today."

"not at, it's my job after all." She smiles "if you'd like, I could lead you to the cashing counter."

I nod and stand up, holding Shiro's hand, and follow her. Soon I was at the counter, where another guild member greeted me. I reached into my bag and summoned half the crystals I gathered and placed it in the tray.

"you gathered quite a decent amount on your first day?" eina said as I placed it all on the tray.

"yes? Was I supposed to gather less?"

"well, new adventures normally don't get this much unless they are in a small party." She said, looking at me worried. "you did stay on the first floor, today right?"

I nod "yes I did. There were a lot of goblins though. I don't know if that's normal or not." I said while thinking about it.

My train of thought was broken by the cashier "here you go, 5,000 valis."

I turn to Shiro and smile "not going hungry or cold tonight! Let go eat!"

"yeah!" he nods and smiles.

I turn to eina once more "thanks again for all the help."

"as I said, it's my job" she smiles "if you'd like I could be your advisor."

"really? Alright then, thanks."

"Kyla come on! I'm hungry!" Shiro says pulling my hand. I laugh "alright, we're going. Bye, miss eina."

With that we left and got dinner and went back to the hotel we left; the old man still sat at the counter "ya back huh." I nod and place the money down "yep, probably be here for a while."

"hmmm" he gives me the key "same room."

I take the key and go to the room and immediately collapse on the bed.

"Kyla?" Shiro calls to me, I grunt in response. "what was it like in the dungeon?"

I turn over and look at him "like what you'd see on a show or movie, I guess. I fought goblins."

He gasps "are they as ugly as in the shows?"

"yep"

"that's crazy" I laugh and nod. After a minute I sit up and look at him "hey Shiro I want to show you something and I want to try something." He looks at me weirdly before nodding his head.

"index"

The gem glow and the screen appear once more. Shiro gaps and it before looking at me "howdidyoudothat?!canidothat?!youhavemagic!"

"ok, Shiro, remember to breathe," it takes a minute, but he does "this is the index. Do you remember that person in space when we died?" "yeah" "well, firstly I named him bob so we are calling him that, two he gave this to me, and I wonder if you have one too. Grab that other bracelet that was with us and say index."

he immediately grabs the bracelet and says index. Both the bracelet and he glow before fading away and he looks at me in excitement. "well, it looks like you have it too."

"Yeah, but it says I haven't met the age requirement" Shiro whines, I pat his head "must be for when you are fourteen."He flops down on the bed "that's going to take ages!" he groans.
