with wobbly knees you got up. everything was shaking, hurting. your body was sore. obviously. but it didn't matter right now.
you could only think about one person. yuji were was he? you could barely stand, your body was screaming in pain, not wanting to move anymore. but you had to find him. you had to.

slowly you were stumbling through the ruins that once were called city.
everything was destroyed.
but did you win?
it didn't matter until you found yuji.
if you had been able to survive he must have been able too.
he always had been stronger than you.
you tried to remember what happened before you lost your consciousness.

you had been together. fighting.
something hit the back of your head just the moment you locked eyes with yuji.
and then everything was black.
where was he?

exhausted you kept stumbling through the streets trying to ignore the dead bodies that layed everywhere as best as you could, while also trying to find out if it was yuji.
some of them had their souls changed by mahito but luckily none of them looked like yuji.

it did take you a while to finally make out your boyfriends pink-brownish hair in the ruins of the city that the fight between the jujutsisten and curses left. but you stumbled back when you saw him.
blood everywhere.
he should be alright.
but he wasn't.
you bit back a sob, running over to him.

you dropped down beside him, ignoring the ache of your body. ignoring the stones cutting in your body.
it didn't matter.
you bit back another sob as you quickly took of your jacket, pressing it on his wound to supress the bleeding.
he couldn't be dead. please...

"yuji" you whispered. was he already dead?

no he couldn't be. he just couldn't.
"y/n?" his voice was barely above a whisper and weak, you could barely hear it but hope lit up your eyes when you heard it. "yuji, oh yuji thank god." tears were streaming down your face. you couldn't hold them back anymore.
he was alive. maybe not in the best state.
but alive. you felt your body ease up a bit, feeling hope.

"where is sukuna? he can.. he can heal you right?" the look on his face wasn't as hopeful as yours. it seemed like he already gave up"right?" you repeated, staring at him through the silence he brought over you. "he's gone." again barely a whisper, but enough to break all hope, your heart. to break you. "No... no...no." again and again the word left your lips, mixed with quiet sobs as you leaned your head on his injured chest, pressing down the jacket a little harsher.

"please yuji, you c-can't just leave me alone... please" another sob left your lips.why was he giving up like this. but who were you to blame him. you were giving up too.

"i'm so sorry angel. i love you. please always remember that." "don't say that. you always said you'd be the one crying on my funreal." you mumbled, holding him as close to you as possible. "please yuji don't leave me, not yet please." you quietly begged.

"i love you." he repeated his words quietly. "i.. i love you too." and that were the last words itadori yuji heard before he died, with a soft smile on his lips. what they said wasn't true. he wasn't seeing his whole life again while he was dying. all he saw was you. your first meeting, the first date, the first kiss. only you.
the only thing that mattered to him.

a loud sob left your lips as you felt his heart stop beating under you.
"yuji." you whispered quietly, pulling him closer to you, as you kept crying.
"i love you so much." you mumbled weakly.

why him? why him? why him?
the only person you had left?
why him.

megumi was the first one to find the heartbreaking scene.
he had been looking for yuji and you, and seeing you like this broke his heart.
he had lost a friend. a lot of friends.
but what was that compared to your loss.
you're suffering.
he knew how much you meant to each other.

but what actually broke megumi's heart was the little smile on yuji's lips.
he remembered how his best friend would always say that he wants to die with a lot of people surrounding him.
his friends, his family.
seems like in the end all yuji needed was you.

slowly he walked over to you.
gently laying a hand on your shoulder.
"y/n." megumi's voice was just as weak as hers. "let's go. they will take care of this." he said, gently pulling you away of the bloody body of your loved one.
instead he pulled you in a tight hug, letting you cry on the crook of his neck.

"i'm so sorry." he whispered, calmingly rubbing her back.
"i love him so much megumi. why him?" you quietly mumbled, grabbing his t-shirt as you kept on crying.

"i don't know." he mumbled as he tried to hold back his own tears.
