You walk through the hall that had been covered in decorations for the special event. A small smile spreads across your face. Today is the wedding day of the love of your life. People fill the corridors as they congratulate the Yln family for the marriage taking place.
"Yn!" Your younger sister shouts for you as she runs through the halls.
"Slow down! If you keep running around in that dress you'll trip over!" You tell her. You talk for a few minutes about the wedding until your sister says
"Jade's gorgeous, isn't she?" You agree and a smile spreads across your face. Only, it was fake. It was an amazing day, the Yln and Thirlwall families were united and two women who loved each other dearly were being married. Why would you have to fake a smile?
"Come on, we don't want to miss the rest of the reception, do we?" She grabs your hand and drags you to the main hall.
While toasts are being read out, you stare into the eyes of the woman who you were in love with. She caught you staring several times, but she was fine with it. It came to your time to stand and speak.
You clear your throat.
"To the brides!" Everyone in the room echoes your words.
Did you think it was your wedding? No, this isn't a fairy tale. Happy endings are rare.
This is not your wedding.
"To your union! May you always be satisfied!"
You feel everything rewind. Rewind back to that day. The day you gave up the love of your life.
You and your sister are stood watching all the guys in the room try and catch your attention. You are laughing at all of them. Until she walks in. The most beautiful girls you've ever seen. She catches your eye and smiles. You slide away from your sister and go over to the girl.
"Hi, I'm Jade. What's your name?" She asks politely. For a few seconds you completely forget your name.
After you remember what your life is you reply.
"My name is Yn Yln." You both talk for a while and end up falling in love.
You go back to your sister but see this look in her eyes. A look you've never seen in her before.
A look of... Helplessness.
She glances to Jade then back to you. She whispers to you.
"This one's mine." You look between Jade and your sister, then walk over to Jade. The fear in your sisters eyes is evident. She doesn't know what you're about to do.
You take the arm of the Arab girl and lead her to your sister.
"Where are you taking me?"
"I'm about to change your life!"
"Then, by all means, lead the way."
You can see a look in her eyes when she sees your sister. The same look she had.
"Sierra Yln, it's a pleasure to meet you." You could see the shock in her eyes at the name.
"Yln?" Jade asks.
"My sister." You respond.
And that's when you gave up the love of your life.
"To the brides!" You cried once more, the room echoing your words once again.
"May...may you always be satisfied!"
At least your sister is the love of your life's wife. At least you keep her eyes in your life...
