Monday, January 4th
After getting little to no sleep I reluctantly get up and get ready for the day. I text my brother to make sure he gets Ashanti to school. Why they decided to make school 12 years long not even including college I'll never understand.
As I walk upstairs making sure to be careful just in case my mother is back and up I slowly open the door and tip toe my way out but before I can leave I feel a hand on my shoulder and know I'm fucked.
"Serenity" my mother called to me. Why is the world against me? "Sup ma" I said back.
"I need some money" she said turning me around to look at her. "I don't have any" I told her back trying my best to lie and get away with it. "Your lying cmon please I won't buy anything just something to eat" she said begging slightly.
"No your lying we have food in the kitchen make that" I told her irritation building up. "I don't feel like it cmon Serenity what would Soul want you to do" she said. I felt my heart drop at that and I could feel myself giving in. Fuck I'm weak.
"Fine" I said taking off my bag to hand her a $20. "Thanks love" she said while running back up to her room. All she's gonna do is buy more drugs wtf is wrong with me. I ain't got time to think about all that because I check my phone and notice that I'm finna be late to first period.

I was late. Whatever at this point my teachers are used to it. Sitting in the back away from everybody and everything I start to feel the lack of sleep hitting me.
The sound of the bell is by far the most terrifying thing to wake up to. It's loud and booms throughout the whole school. Signaling the end of first period I start to walk to my second class.
"Sis!" I hear from behind me. I turn around and seeing my little brother running towards me. Little backstory me and him are the same age I'm just about 6 months older what can I say our father was a hoe. "Little boy stop screaming" I told him while starting to walk again.
"Sorry you going to class" he asked. "Yeah cmon we can walk together since I know that's what you want" I responded. See Marcellus is "popular" he's on the basketball team and is friends with pretty much everyone. Me on the other hand is a loner I don't talk or mess with nobody in this hell hole because I can't stand people.
"Sweet" he said while smiling. He's such a softie he always wants me to hang out with him and his friends and go to his games but I always say no or can't because I'm busy. I occasionally give in tho...what can I say I like seeing my bro smile.
Zoning out in my next two periods it's finally 4th period which is History my favorite period of the day because Mr. Torrence is the best teacher he literally barely teaches and he the only one who isn't always on my ass about this and that.
"Ok ok settle down class" Mr. T says after the bell rings. Not particularly caring about what he's finna say I start to zone out until the sound of the door shutting rather loudly I might add brings me back. Renée why am I not surprised she's always late for some reason.
"Nice of you to join us Ms. Mescudi" Mr. T says but without any sarcasm in his voice like the other teachers. "Sorry I'm late here you are" she said while handing him a late slip. She takes a seat and he continues going on about some upcoming project that we'll start today.
