Serenity P.O.V
"I'm fr ma you should think about it." I heard Renée tell her mother.
"A car? Really Renée?"
"Yeah it will give you a chance to upgrade from that boring old car. And I mean if you get a new car you can just give the old one to idk...me." She said and realization dawned on her mom face.
"Ahhh so that's why you want me to get a new car you don't even have your license." She said laughing.
"Well imma get it before I—umm graduate imma get it before I graduate." She said but it sounded like she wanted to say something else at first.
"Hmm I'll think about it but you fr better get your license before you le—"
"I will...I will make sure of it I just gotta find a date." Renée said cutting her off.
I zoned out of they conversation when my phone went off. I look down and see my mom texted me.
Momma: Can you come get me
Me: Yeah I'm omw
"Hey...I gotta go." I said walking up to them.
"Right now?" She said turning around to look at me.
"Yeah I'll see you tomorrow tho."
"Let me walk you out." She came up next to me and grabbed my hand. "Ight...bye Mrs.Mescudi." I said waving as we left the kitchen.
"Bye Serenity." She said waving back.
"You sure gotta leave now." Renée said once we got outside
"Yeah but I'll call you later and I'll see you tomorrow ok." I said grabbing her hips and pulling her towards me. "Fine." She said pouting.
"Don't be sad." I said kissing her pout away.
"If you do that again I won't."
I kissed her again and we was standing there for a couple minutes so wrapped up into each other that we didn't even notice her dad pull up until he slammed the car door and cleared his throat. I pulled away so fast and wiped my lips looking anywhere but his way.
"Serenity."
"Hi Mr.Mescudi...I was just about to leave imma see you uhh yeah." I said nervously then rushed to get in my car.
After I arrive at the address my mom texted me I park and wait for her to come around. I see her come up to the car after a minute or two with a guy they looked like they was having a conversation but I could barely hear it.
"I don't want it and I'm leaving so go back inside." I heard my mom say when they got closer.
"Whatever you say your missing out." The man said then left.
When she got in the car she didn't speak just laid down in the back seat. I didn't find it necessary to question her so I drove off towards the house. When we got there she still wasn't talking. I decided to break the silence once we got in the house.
"You ok?" I asked sitting next to her on the couch.
"Mhmm...can I ask you something?" She said but her eyes was closed. "Sure" I said mirroring her actions.
"What makes you stay around?" Ok I wasn't expecting that but I stayed calm with my eyes still closed. "Well I guess I don't want to leave you alone...I know you don't want my help but I'm not just gonna leave when this whole thing is my fault." I told her.
"You still think like that?" She asked. "It's tru" I said shrugging.
"It's not I chose my path...I didn't mean to drag you down with me."
"You didn't...I'm perfectly fine."
"Right I still think it's not your fault but I'm not gonna lie when I first started doing this I blamed it on you too." She said. I was about to say something when she continued. "But then I realized it wasn't your fault that they died or that I use. That drunk man chose to get behind the wheel and their deaths are on his hands. As for me using it's my fault I just couldn't handle living without them and I know I had y'all but I was hurting and it was the option I chose instead of getting myself help."
I didn't know what to say after she confessed all that we've never talked like this. After they died she never wanted to acknowledge that it happened and we accepted that so we pretended that nothing ever happened too but it did and it fucked this family up. We sat there for a while just sitting then I heard her say something.
"I regret it you know." She said and I could feel her looking at me.
"I know you do...but if your telling me this because you think I'm gonna leave you or something I'm not." I told her looking right back at her. She smiled for a sec then went back to being serious.
"You wanna know what I saw today?" She asked me. "What'd you see?"
"I saw a guy with his daughter she couldn't have been older than 5. She was crying and he wasn't paying attention to her. He got high and was zoned out for a couple mins then once he became back aware to her crying he hugged her for about two seconds to calm her down then did it again." Her voice was quiet and soft a voice she reserved for her kids only. I didn't say anything just waited for her to continue.
"The first thing I thought about was you and Ashanti and Darian and how I did the same thing. I would stop for about a week or so and then do it again." I could hear the regret and sadness laced within her words. "Serenity."
"Yes?" I said looking at her again. "I need your help but like I really need your help I need you to be mean and not give in just because I try to manipulate you. I need you to do this for me."
"If you need me to do it then of course I will...but I won't go easy on you." I told her sitting up and getting serious.
"I don't want you too." I couldn't help the happiness that ran through me. "But right now I'm tired." She said starting to lay across the couch I took that as a sign to get up and went to make dinner.

Sheesh sorry this took so long to update I'm trying to get ready for my brother birthday and then my sister birthday plus mothers day
I'll try to update tomorrow since the next 2 chapters are sorta short
