I know I'm terrible. No need to point it out darlings. So yeah I'm just trying to whip up a nice Percy meeting Paul one-shot, sorry if it sucks. I hope you enjoy and yes I am willing to do a collab with you, adwikaa, if you're still up for it. you have no IDEA how sorry I am I'm so late and have about 10 pounds of homework anyhOW----- *deep breath* *gracious host voice* "enjoy the one-shot!"

------------------------------------------------------

"Hey mom! What's up?" Fourteen-year-old Percy called, entering his living room. He'd just been dropped off by the school bus from his school, MS-54, for the second half of his school year after his Artemis and Annabeth quest (ugh! tearstearstears).

"PERCY!" Came an excited voice. Suddenly he was ingulfed in warmth and the smell of chocolate and cookies. He relaxed immediately (he always privately worried he'd come home and find his mom gone) and hugged her back as she pressed kisses to his hair.

"I was so worried-- camp called-- and Annabeth was taken-- oh, I was so worried!" She exclaimed, letting him go and looking him up and down. She ran a hand through his messy hair and he pretended that the tears at his new grey streak weren't there.

She hugged him again, tightly and quickly, before helping him unpack as she listened to VERY vague details of his newest quest.

"...And then Artemis flew us to Olympus in her chariot and we- we said goodbye to Zoe..." He trailed off, looking and feeling very awkward in his grief of a girl he'd just met. Sally understood immediately. Other people missed her more than him and obviously he felt like his grief was unnecessary and invalid.

"Percy..." she murmured, but before she could go on, he jumped slightly and straightened his posture. "But we saved Annabeth and Artemis!" He'd gotten better at his false!perky voice since his first quest.

Sally pretended NOT to see right through it.

"Well," she said, clapping her flour-dusted hands, "I invited Paul over for dinner. I want you to meet him." The boy on the bed immediately sat up straight, eyebrows furrowing.

"Paul?" he asked, voice distrustful.

"Yes. We've-- we're..... dating. Kind of." She spoke hurridely, like HE'D be mad and that was his cue to smile at her and say, "That's great, Mom! What's for dinner?"

"Pasta," Sally answered, smiling, as she led them both to the kitchen. "Tell me more about this Paul guy." Percy requested.

And all was well.

--------------------------------

All was NOT well. All was so NOT well it wasn't even funny.

Percy was freaking out.

Some people would say he was overreacting but considering that the LAST person his mother dated was now a stone sculpture in a museum for being a total jerkwad..... yeah, he'd say he WASN'T overreacting.

Why was Percy freaking out when he was accepting and calm before?

Because his ADHD mind was good at distracting him, that's why! He and his mom had had 4 HOURS before dinner was due to start, but they'd been so fun they'd passed in a snap. Oh, Hades.

There was a knock on the door. "Nonononono" he murmured under his breath as his mom opened the blue--painted door to reveal a tall, salt-and-pepper-haired man with blue eyes.

After greeting his mom, Paul's eyes were immediately on him. "Hey," he said, "I'm Paul Blofis."

Percy's eyes widened. "Blowfish?" Paul laughed, open and not at all deragatory to his young age. "Close," he admitted with a smirk, "But no."
