He's mine. (Cedric Diggory x Reader)

You can't take him.

September 1st, 1994.
Me and Cedric sat at the Hufflepuff table waiting for the 1st years to get sorted. He had changed so much since the first time we met. He grew taller so that he towered over me. His bone structure became sharper and overall just matured into a man. I had liked him all of 1st and 2nd year. But in my 3rd year. That best friend of mine had turned into love. I sat there admiring how his eyes glimmered in the light and how perfect his brown wavy hair was. He turned his head and our eyes met. Butterflies exploded in my stomach and my cheeks turned a bright red. "Y/N, your staring again." He laughed and turned slightly pink as he continued talking with his friends. He knew I liked him. But he didn't know that I loved him. This year was his last year at hogwarts and I was going to make the best out of it. I moved closer to him and rested my head on his shoulder and looked up at him. He rested his hand on mine and we sat there the entire ceremony just enjoying each others company.

After the first years were sorted Dumbledore made an announcement. "This school year will not be like the rest. We will be hosting the Triwizard tournament. Two other wizarding schools will be visiting. The Triwizard tournament is a dangerous tournament and that is why the ministry of magic has put an age minimum of 17 of our participants." Dumbledore said. The Weasley twins booed this rule and I laughed at their dismay. Dumbledore gave us the sign to eat and we began the start of year feast.
After dinner everyone made their way to their house common rooms. Me and Cedric walked together up to the Hufflepuff common room where we sat next to the fire chatting about the tournament. "Maybe I'll put my name in." He said curiously. I turned and look at him eyes wide and raised my voice to shout at him "Are you insane? You heard Dumbledore, It's dangerous Cedric! You could get hurt or even worse in that tournament." He rolled his eyes and put an arm around me and said in his calming voice "Y/N I can do it. I know I can." I relaxed my tense body and melted into his embrace. We sat there in silence for what felt like an eternity. "I can't lose you Cedric." I said tearing up at the thought of not having him. "You won't lose me Y/N. I promise." And with that we both fell into a deep sleep. Together. No one around, Just us.

The next morning I woke up next to Cedric on the commons room couch and started panicking. I looked up at the clock and read 6:50. I turned to Cedric and shook him awake. "What the hell Y/N?" He said in his cute morning voice. "We fell asleep in the common room, breakfast starts in 10 minutes, get up!" I yelled. He got up quickly and ran to his dorm and I ran to mine. Quickly dressing and getting ready for the day I thought of our conversation last night about the Triwizard tournament. I really hope he doesn't actually enter into this death trap. I finished dressing and ran to the great hall where I met Cedric at the Hufflepuff table. "Running a bit late are we?" He snickered, and I rolled my eyes. When I had finished eating I gathered my things and headed to my first class. Herbology with professor Sprout was always my favorite. I loved taking care of plants. Neville Longbottom was a great student in herbology. We got along quite well and loved being partners. Today we were learning about Mandrakes. We did learn about them in our second year but this year we were getting more into it. When herbology class had came to an end I made my way back up
to the castle to attend divination with Trelawney. She always loved me and thought I was good luck. Today we were reading each others tea leaves. Fred was my partner and he kept making me laugh in the middle of class. When we finally started reading each other's, his told him that he would be successful. He read mine and told me that love was coming my way. My heart started racing and the image of Cedric and I popped into my head.

Walking to the library after class, I felt two strong arms pick me up from behind. I immediately began laughing as i recognized that sweet vanilla scent of Cedric. He put me down and began walking with me. "Where are you going Y/N?" he said. "Library, I have a quiz in transfiguration next week. Want to make sure I ace it." I told him. "Yep that's you, always prepared." We walk into the library and go to a table in the corner. I take out all of my homework and begin working through it. Cedric sits there playing with my hair and making me laugh. "Ced I need to get this done." I said giggling. "Can't you do that later? let's go for a walk." He said pouting. "No, I need this to be done for tomorrow!" I said focusing back on my work. He moved closer to me and put his head on my shoulder helping work through my homework. A couple hours later I shut my books and flopped down onto the table exhausted.  "Finally you're done, can we take a walk now?" He said shaking me. "After supper we can, okay?" I said looking at the clock. "Sounds good." Cedric said smiling at me and pulling me out of my seat.
