The day after Tucker had his lunch with Divij, he decided to go to Paige's place before work. He talked to her about her wanting to resign from Kaufman Enterprises. He assured her that he didn't want to be making her decisions for her, but she should remember how much she loves working there and that Tucker should not be the reason for her having to give it up.
Tucker also told her that he broke things off Callum, and that he was serious this time. It took a bit of convincing, but Tuck knew how to talk his twin down. At the end, Paige decided not to resign.
As the days kept passing, Tucker did his best to keep himself busy. He took on as many cases as Joe would let him, and whenever he wasn't drowning in work he would spend time with his friends or at the bar near his apartment.
He got closer to Isaac as well, the two men had sex occasionally, but other than that they hung out as friends too. Landon was always happy to tag along, and Nolan too at times. Whenever Dan showed up, it was for a limited time since he wanted to be with his newly wed wife.
Tucker didn't mind, of course, he saw enough of Dan at work and was glad that his sister had such a considerate and affectionate husband.
It had been around two months since he last saw or spoke to Callum. He was continuously on Tucker's mind. Which is the reason why Tucker had started to absolutely despise the idea of being alone, or not having work.
He hated when he had time to think, because all he could think about was Callum. Tucker knew that cutting Callum off wasn't going to be easy, but he wasn't expecting it to be this difficult either. Having been through loads of break ups, this was the first time that someone had much such an impact on Tucker.
Usually, he'd forget and move on within the month and find someone else. But right now, the thought of being with someone else was repulsive. Isaac was somewhat of an exception, but Tucker had realised that he needed to be atleast six beers down before he could go ahead and have sex with Isaac.
Among the new things he had recently started hating, being sober was one of them.
Keeping himself busy or drunk seemed to be working, as his mind started drifting to Callum lesser and lesser as the days kept passing.
"You wanted to see me?" Tucker asked as he entered Joe's office.
"Yeah! Come in! Sit down!" Joe said. Tucker sat down on the chair, looking at Joe expectantly.
"Is it about the Lowell case? Because I told you I'm handling it and I don't want Cruz to be second chair." Tucker said.
"No no," Joe shook his hand dismissively, "Do you remember Hector?"
"Hector Reyes? Didn't he used to work here before me?" Tucker asked and Joe nodded.
"Left around four years before you. Guess what? Finley Boulder is now Finley Boulder Reyes." Joe said.
"He made name partner? That's impressive." Tucker complimented.
"Sure," Joe paused, "Anyway, they're having their annual party this—"
"No."
"Atleast listen to what I have to say, Tucker." Joe frowned.
"I know what you're going to say and the answer is no. I'm not going to any party full of corporate sell outs." Tucker shrugged.
"Hector is a friend," Joe began, "And he wanted to meet you too. See who the up and coming top ruthless prosecutor of the city is."
"You think sliding a few compliments will get me to go?" Tucker smirked.
