[Everything from this point onwards is from Jennie's POV]
"Why are you using my phone?" I ask Jisoo when I see her toss my phone back on her nightstand after I walk out of her shower.
With flexed and toned arms raised in surrender, she says, "It was ringing. I thought it might've been important or something."
I walk up to her and grab my phone to shove it into my pocket. "Don't touch my stuff, dude. Not cool."
"I let you sleep on my bed. I slept on the couch for you. Don't be an ass," she replies with a chuckle.
"Not funny."
"Geez, someone's cranky. How are you feeling?"
"Horrible. I'm going to head home. I have to talk to Lisa."
"Uhh, are you sure you're going home?" she asks. "I mean, shouldn't you give it some time or something?"
"I love her and I'm not losing her, man. Not talking to her about it is just going to make it worse. Thanks for letting me stay the night though."
"Yeah. Umm... no worries. Call me if you need anything," she says before I turn around to leave. "What, no goodbye kiss?"
"Suck my dick, Chu," I said as I walk towards her door.
"It was okay last night, but not in the morning?" I hear her say as I leave.
I shut my eyes as I try to forget the memory.
Fragile and in need of something familiar and safe, I let her kiss me. I was shaking and in tears and she was there for me, so I allowed her, and I kissed her back.
As expected, she was an even better kisser than before. She knew how I wanted it, and she did it even better.
But she wasn't Lisa.
"Stop," I said as I pulled away.
I kissed her back. I just cheated on Lisa. I can never hate myself more than I do right now.
She pulled me back. "You know you want this," she said.
Mortified and absolutely disgusted at what I just did, I roughly pushed her away. "Stop. No, I don't."
Obviously frustrated, Jisoo clenches her jaw. "All right, all right. Goodnight, Jennie." She stood up and left me alone in her room.
"Go fuck yourself, Chu," I said out loud before I left Jisoo's place.
After a half hour cab ride, I finally get home.
I hear sniffling sounds from our bedroom. I enter and find Lisa curled up on our bed, and the sight crushes my heart.
"Lisa," I weakly speak out loud.
She sits up, her arms wrapped around her folded legs. Seeing her bloodshot eyes and tired expression physically hurt me. She just looks at me. She doesn't even say anything.
"We need to talk," I say to her and she shuts her eyes, as if in pain. We can still fix this, I think to myself. I sit across her on our bed.
"Did you sleep with her?" I hear her weakly ask.
"Wait, what?"
"Like, I read the text so I already know you want to take a break, but I just want to know—"
"What text? What?"
She frowns in confusion. She slides her phone across the bed towards me. "I've been calling you for hours last night and I left a hell lot of voicemail and you never did as much as pick up. Then I got that this morning."
"I checked my phone this morning and I didn't get anything from you," I mumbled as I opened her phone.
[Ginger Jen ❤️]: we need 2 talk. i wanna take a break
A little smile sneaks into my lips when I see my contact name on her phone. But it disappears as soon as I read the message that I don't recognize.
"That wasn't me, babe. I don't type like that. You know that," I honestly say as I hold her hand.
"That makes it worse. Jisoo's allowed to use your phone now?"
Then the stench of alcohol in her breath hits me.
Oh my god.
"You drank," I think out loud.
"Did you sleep with her?" she asks, completely diverting my attention from her alcohol intake.
"No, no, babe. I wouldn't do that to you."
She pulls her hand away from me. "Why do you look so guilty, then? You slept at her place, right?"
"Yeah, I slept in her apartment but I swear nothing—I mean, I didn't sleep with her. I promise."
She just looks at me. This girl knows me better than I know myself.
"Stop looking at me like that. Babe, please."
"You can't even look at me properly. Just tell me what you did and get it over with." She doesn't even sound hurt. She just sounds empty.
I look at my hands and stay quiet.
"Okay, I'll go first," she says terrifyingly emotionlessly. "I'm sorry for accusing you of a bunch of shit. Turns out, your bestfriend Joohyun has been planning this entire thing. She stole the flowers before they reached me and she told me you were with your ex when you weren't and she's been filling my head with paranoia until I burst, and it worked. She wanted to break us up because she still loves me and she wants me back. And I know that's not an excuse for how I acted, and I am so sorry, and I hope you forgive me for believing her more than I did with you, and for not letting you explain last night."
"Wait, what the fuck?! Joohyun?!"
"Mhmm. And she tried to kiss me and I pushed her away in a split second and I left her immediately and I spent the rest of the night trying to call you because I was so worried about your safety, but it turns out that you were there having fun with your lovely ex-girlfriend doing God-knows-what."
"Lisa... I... I didn't know."
"Now you do. And I'm sorry. Your turn."
"Babe, please," I begged.
"Look at me in the eyes," she orders. I follow. "I don't want to believe that you'd do anything I wouldn't want, but your body language is screaming otherwise. So tell me."
With my eyes, I beg her to stop. But she keeps her eyes cold.
"Did you kiss her back?" she asks.
How does she know?
"I mean, I know you wouldn't sleep with her. You wouldn't do that to me. But I know girls like Jisoo. Did you kiss her back?"
"Babe, let me explain."
"So you did, huh?" Her shoulders slump and all emotions drain from her eyes.
Then it hits me.
The worst thing anyone can do to Lisa is cheat on her, and that's exactly what I did. She didn't date anyone for years because her last girlfriend and my "bestfriend" Joohyun cheated on her. Her family fell apart because her mum cheated on her dad. And just when she gave love another chance, I cheated on her.
She trusted me. And I cheated. And I will eternally hate myself because of this.
"Why?" she asks. I never knew that one fucking word could cause so much pain. "I thought I could trust you. That no matter what shit we would go through, you wouldn't hurt me like that."
I burst into tears. "It didn't mean anything, babe, I promise—"
"Leave." Emotionless. That's the only word to describe her right now.
"Lisa, please—"
"You're just like her. You're just like all of them. You know what? I actually thank Joohyun now for showing me that you're just like them. I forgive her. But you?" She shakes her head with a humourless laugh. "Never."
