These events happened before the prologue. So I am sorry for the chronological confusion.
Added, this is a TEASER. Treat this like a trailer, not the official beginning of the story. You can read the Prologue onward for the story to start. Because nothing will be explained here.
I like to thank Ellie from The Ink community for editing this piece. It was....really something. Hahaha! If it wasn't for her, I think this would've been less bearable.

The sky rumbled with fury, as the harsh winds blew through the cracks and slots of the rusting tower. Lilith leaned on her motorcycle in the damp garage hidden below it, focusing on the melody of the thunder grey clouds, as she waited for the others to arrive. Surrounded by automobiles, Lilith pretended she had smudge on her ride, cleaning the invisible dirt patch to make it seem like she was busy. But in reality, she was a bit anxious.
She didn't like to keep count, but for her to be brought back in the Marderians' household for the 6th time, she must have kept such a wild record in the family. Which surprised her, as soon as the doors were opened to her that afternoon. But her celebration soon brought with unexpected dread when she was tasked to prove herself. She thought that she was on good terms with every gen. No one in particular despised her in any sense or way. But that didn't mean no one wanted to be by her.
A cockroach they weren't able to kill for a month, still in their kitchen. They soon accepted the immortality of such a bug, leaving it to feed on something else. And that insect might as well be her, as she continued to come back without any closure. Lilith's only purpose was to be here, with her family, with the ones she longed to rejoice in the fond memories of her childhood. But that isn't the only reason for her to be there.
Even though she was ecstatic about being accepted once more in the household, she has come to ask a huge favor from them. It meant the world to her if they accepted her request right from the bat. But she had to do something in return, and she gladly took the ultimatum without any concern.
Because she is doing, or rather, what she wants to do, might help those in need. It might help Amanda with the apartment complex, might get Yanke out of the pit of the Black Alley Market, might help expand the Red zone for more residents, or create something better for all of them.
Lilith may not have all of her priorities straight, but her Ma always told her that every gen has a tragic legend about them. It just takes another gen, for them to hear this tale and pass it on to those who want to hear. And Lilith has heard many legends, those that are far greater than her own, and she is willing to pass them on to create great tales.
Her conscience snapped when she heard the door creak open. Hearing gathered voices as they bounced around the garage. She looked back to see young female and male gens with tight tuxes on. While their bottoms were accessories of their choosing, they were obligated to wear their top uniform, the back of which was decorated with a leaning tower within a knitted circle. Red thread created these gashes behind the logo, making it look like lightning striking the tower.
'The almighty Trypothenthia creates cracks that the Marderians see.'
A saying she still remembers even from her time away from home. The cracks in the sense that no mortal can tell just by listening closely, seeing clearly, or zoning out from the noise, to see the cracks they can see. No, they see beyond and deeper into those ruptured lines that no gen can see. It was like a bright light guiding them, showing them the twists and turns decorated on the souls of many. Even touching them with such gentle care will burst into broken strands.
Gazing into the souls of many to find those lines was an easy job for the Marderians'.
