The bell rang throughout the building, as children in bunches ran towards the empty halls, not a single gen was safe from the masses hurried out. By foot, or by flight, they all hurry to the bright light at the end of the tunnel. Dashing through the double doors to burst in the wide-open, the young gens all split in their respective roots. Either standing to the side or jumping into the arms of their loved ones. The school day ended successfully for the East Black Alley Elementary students. All except Lilith.

She dragged her torn sneakers through the cement stairs, which were untied by her sluggish actions. She sighed, as she rolled up her purple striped sweat thread sleeves. Shielding her eyes with her hand. It wasn't that hot of a day, but Lilith felt sweat dripping from the back of her head. Where her prim, coiled hair stuck to the nape of her neck.

She pushed it to the side, feeling the droplets collect on her fingers. But it puffed back where it came from. She messed with it again, but it somehow bounced back. It was useless in the end, so she decided not to have another battle with it. Instead, she noticed she wasn't moving at all. Just staring at her untied shoes in contempt. Being a blockade to the hoard of students coming by.

The young gen then began to slump forward again, but she nearly tripped on her shoes in the process. Almost colliding into tall three-eyed gen, as they continue to skip the stairs unharmed. Lilith huffed, glaring at her shoes. She might as well tie them before getting into an accident. Leaning down on the edge, to reach her laces, she felt the weight of her bag lurch forward. Without warning, she was about to fumble down the stairs headfirst.

Shutting her eyes, she guards her face against impact, but it never comes. Feeling weightless from her upper body, something tugged her to stop. Her eyes poke around to see, before staring at tinted silver eyes. Young male gen held the straps of her bag, pulling her up on her feet. His bronze skin glowed against the sun, making his complexion glow in reflection. Except for his square frame glasses perched on his nose. His hair was shaved proportionally on each side above his ears. Leaving little scraps of tight curls to bounce on top of his head, and stretch over his lopes.

Lilith stared over him to see a much younger male gen with corkscrew hair, studying her with bewilderment. A lot shorter than the one beside him, he just kept his hands in his pockets. When Lilith was settled, she adjusted her bag and turned to the two. Looking at both of them simultaneously before cracking into a small smile.

"Thanks, Bao."

"You shouldn't drag your feet next time, " The gen advised, walking ahead of her as the younger gen stuck to her side, "Josie is waiting for us below."

His zig, zag cotton vest, and dark blue long-sleeved shirt expanded his body. As his brown trousers stuck to his body. Revealing his slim and scrawny legs tumbling down the stairs. She watched her younger brother disappear in the crowd, as she held onto the younger gen's shoulder to tie her shoes.

"He always acts like that," the younger one complained, "Acting like that big bully back at home."

"Lay off," She sympathized, doing the last knots of her shoes before standing, "He just goes through stuff."

"Yeah, stuff that treats us like shit."

"Tim!" Lilith hollered, slapping his shoulder in the process.
