Shane's point of view.

I ripped past everyone when the bell rang. I knew she wasn’t at school, so I went home instantly. When I got home I ran through the door as fast as I could.

“Dad is Jamie home?” I asked catching my breath.

“No son, she isn’t.” He answered now looking concerned.

“Shit!” I jumped back in my truck.

I didn’t know where I was supposed to go. I got in and drove. I ended up in a place I knew was familiar. I ran into the building.

“Deputy Shannon, where’s Sherriff Laurence?” I belted.

“In his office, why?”  He looked up from his desk.

“I need to see him, NOW” I felt my voice rise.

“Shane, now isn’t-“

“It’s about Jamie. I can’t find her” I screamed.

Deputy Shannon’s face changed instantly. He ran back to his office, and soon both of them came out.

“Shane, did she go to school today?” Sam asked me.

“Yes, but she didn’t go to any classes. It’s not like her to skip. She never went back to my house either. I called her dad, she’s not with him or at your house.” I was trying to catch my breath.

“Shit!” Sam through down his fist. “Get in my car, I know where she is.”

We ran to Sam’s car. The deputies followed and got in their own cars. I jumped in the front seat with Sam.

“Where are we going?” I asked while Sam quickly pulled out of the driveway.

“Jason Maral’s place.  They were together last year, things ended bad, and there was death threats against her. He stalked her, but I never had enough proof to get him locked up.” Sam was serious.

“If she’s hurt, I’ll kill him” This time. I was serious.

I couldn’t bare the thought of my beautiful girlfriend, hurt by some ass hole. I wasn’t about to let him get away with it.

            “How far?” I asked.

“Few more miles.” Sam answered me.

Even as we were driving far, this was the longest car ride of my life. I had no idea where I was. I knew where I wanted to be though. I wanted to be with Jamie. Keeping her safe. I can’t stand the thought of her being hurt. It’s killing me. I want her right now. I want her to smile as she see’s me.

I’ll kill any bastard that harms her. I’ll seriously kill him.

We got to this very old apartment. I got out of the car. I tried to run to the apartment, but instantly, for my own safety, Deputy Johnson shoved me back into the car.

I watched all the police men run in the building. A few minutes later, I heard Sam come over the radio.

“Deputy Johnson, I got her. Tell Shane I got her. She’s hurt. Call for back up, Maral is gone.”

I felt a sigh of relief. Deputy Johnson left me out of the car. I seen Sam carrying Jamie out. She was unconscious. Her clothes were ripped and you can see plainly down to her bra. I took off my shirt, and put it on her exposed body. She was so small it covered her legs too.  I kissed her forehead, and watched as they put her in the heated car. No longer then 15 minutes later, the ambulance arrived. They put my little angel in the ambulance.

“Shane, she’s in good hands now.” Sam put his hand on my shoulder. “Thank you” He smiled slightly.

“What about Jason?” I asked. I clenched my fists.

“We have back up searching for him now. Go, get in the ambulance with her. I’ll be there soon”

I hugged him. I don’t know why I did. I felt a relieving feeling coming over me. I ran to the ambulance and jumped in with them.

The ambulance went very fast, and 20 minutes later we arrived at the hospital. They took Jamie to her room, and put her on a breathing tube. As I walked in, they kicked me out.

“We need to check for any evidence of rape, Mr. Houston” Nurse Kayla told me.

“Rape? You think she’s been raped?!” I screamed.

            “It’s mandatory. I have to”

Soon, she left and went into the room. My mind went black. I ran down the hallway, and felt all my anger rage over me.

“Why her?! Why! She never did anything! She’s innocent!” I screamed, fiercely. I ran my fist into the wall, and the wood broke through. I ran out of the building. I slammed my body into the wall, and fell to the floor.  I put my hands over my face, and pulled my legs up to my chest.

For the first time, in years… I cried.
