Left me cold

Chapter 6

Ashlyn's POV

I've been asleep for the past 3 hours which felt great because I could relax and not have to worry about pain every 3-5 minutes I was having a great dream to, that was until my Mum started gently shaking me waking me up "Ashlyn sweetie, sorry to wake you" Mum says softly into my ear while stroking back my hair.

I look around for a bit so my eyes can start adjusting to the light again, once they had I look around to see my Mum, Elijah and two Midwifes looking at the screen together.

After about 5 minutes one of them turns round and looks at me and smiles "hey Ashlyn, sorry that we had to wake you but we was going check your centimeters but there is no need because the head is right there so we woke you up to get this baby out". I look at my Mum nervously but she can tell how I'm feeling and she holds me tightly while the Midwife's set up for delivery.

Midwife comes back over to the bed and introduces herself to me and then smiles and puts my legs up towards my chest "okay so what you are going to do is when I tell you to push you will lean forward and put your head to your chest and hold it as long as you can, I'll count if that's easier" Laura says with a smile.

After all the talking we finally got along with things, I started with a few light pushes so my body could get used to it I'm feeling tired already and I've only just started.

"Yes your doing so well, and push" I hear Laura say as she looks at me with a smile. I lean forward putting by head to my chest and push.

"1...2...3...4...5...6...7...9...10 and relax" Holly says softly.

45 minutes later

It's been 45 minutes since I started pushing and I can't do it anymore, I'm so tired why did I get myself into this. I can barely hear anyone in the room anymore except every now and again I hear Laura telling me to push or my Mum and Elijah telling me it will be worth it.

"That's it Ashlyn, push for me".

"I can't do it anymore" I say as tears start falling again.

"Yes you can Ashlyn, I know your tired but your doing so good" Elijah says taking my hand I don't want him touching my hand after all he did to me but right now I couldn't care less I'm two tired to say anything about it.

"That's it big push for me" Holly says holding towels ready for delivery. I close my eyes and lean forward and push I don't hear Laura counting but I squeeze Elijah's hard and push down "FUUCCKK" I yell before resting back down.

I start to close my eyes but I'm stopped when a loud cry enters the room "IT'S A BOY" Laura smiles and places him on my chest. I rest my hand on him and start to cry.

"You did it Ashlyn" my Mum says crying with happiness.
