Lance stumbled out from the lounge and towards his room, one hand clutching his abdomen while the other trailed along the wall. He cursed at himself for losing track of his monthly heat cycle. It wouldn't matter at this moment anyway, considering it also slipped his mind to buy more heat suppressants during their latest trip to the Space Mall. He did remember to buy more scent blockers, though they wouldn't last long as his heat continued. The pain in his side was growing greater as he continued to trudge through the hall.
If it weren't for his second gender being a secret to the rest of the team, Lance would gladly accept the comfort and support of his friends in a heartbeat. Yet that would never happen, so he would just have to suffer in silence.
"Quiznak, I hate this," he mumbled under his breath. "I hate being an omega."
As if things couldn't get any worse, the familiar Keith Kogane was heading right towards Lance. His strong scent of cinnamon and bonfire lingered through the air and into Lance's nose, causing his omega instincts to kick in.
"Alpha," he thought to himself. "I want Keith to be my alpha."
The Cuban boy shook his head furiously as realization took over.
"Get a grip, Lance. Obviously you're not thinking straight if you want to get with that stupid mullet."
Of course he's not thinking straight. It's not like every male omega is gay, but Lance McClain certainly is- Or bi to be exact. He knew his sexuality even before he knew his second gender at the age of twelve. He can't clearly remember if he had an actual crush, but he did know that he had a fondness for females and males alike.
His sexuality was really clarified once he began attending the Galaxy Garrison. Lance didn't like Keith at first, seeing him as more of an angsty rebel than a gifted fighter pilot. However, there was something about Keith that drew him in and began his secret admiration.
Secret admiration. Another secret kept from his friends.
He is not to be known as a bisexual omega with a longing crush on Keith. He is just a heterosexual beta who despises Keith with a passion. Much to Lance's displeasure, the feelings seem to be mutual.
Another sharp sting brought Lance out of his thoughts and caused a groan to erupt from his throat. The sound reached Keith's ears, causing him to look up in concern.
"Are you okay, Lance?" He doesn't wait for a response. Seeing Lance slide down against the wall was enough of an answer.
Keith quickly stepped forward, taking a hold of the other male's shoulders. Only up close did he notice the light flush on Lance's tan, freckled face. "What's wrong? Are you sick?"
"I...I'm fine. Just stay away from me," Lance huffed as he attempted to push Keith off. He held on tighter.
"At least let me help you to your room. You're clearly not in the condition to walk by yourself."
"I don't need your help! I am perfectly capable of walking on my own!"
With another strong pull, Lance was able to get out of Keith's grip. But before he could take even two steps forward, the most extreme ache stabbed into his side. The feeling of slick soon ran down his legs and slowly soaked through his pants.
The sweet scent of lavender and ocean breeze began to drift through the hall. This was Lance's scent, only much stronger and sickening... and addicting. The change in scent was unusual and normally only happened when one felt threatened or was going into...Keith's eyes widened in surprise.
"Wait, are you... an omega?"
Lance's eyes filled with tears from shame and utter embarrassment. Never had he wanted to feel so exposed and vulnerable, especially not in front of his 'rival'.
"P-please don't tell the others. They'll hate me if they find out I'm an omega. Promise you won't tell."
This side of Lance was something Keith had never seen before. Normally, Lance would only talk to Keith to mock him or start fights. To see the taller boy truly panicked made Keith's chest hurt.
Much like Lance, Keith's crush began at the Galaxy Garrison. Although he never got a chance to personally meet the cargo pilot, he was always able to catch glimpses of him outside of classes. It was rumored that Lance had been a flirtatious and humorous guy, but he was also a smart student and a hard worker. It makes sense why he hated Keith. After all, it was Lance who got the backlash from Commander Iverson after he was suspended. No matter how hard he tried, he would never be as great as the emo flunk out. At least that's what the Garrison would have him believe.
Even if Lance did despise him, Keith wasn't going to let him struggle alone.
"Hey, I promise I won't tell the others." Keith smiled softly when he noticed Lance's shoulders loosen from the reassurance. "Now let me help you to my room. It's closer and you need to lie down."
Lance nodded, deciding that it shouldn't be too much trouble for him to rest there a few minutes. Once the pain subsided enough, he would race back to his room and push through his heat on his own.
The two paladins walked towards Keith's room, with Lance leaning on him for balance. The door slid open and the omega flopped onto the neatly made bed. Keith's cinnamon fragrance was embedded into sheets, giving him the instinct to nuzzle his face deeper into the cloth before another feeling of discomfort caused him to sit up.
"So..." Keith trailed off, standing to the side of the room. "How are you feeling?" He knows it's a stupid question, but his actions are always a bit clumsy when he's nervous. It didn't help that Lance's scent was getting stronger and making it difficult for him to control his alpha instincts.
"I'm okay," the other said quickly. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I won't be in here for too long. I just need the cramping to die down before I even try to get up again."
At this, Keith glances over with a perplexed expression. "Then what?"
"Uh, I lay down and wait for my heat to be over with?" It was Lance's turn to give a puzzled look. "What were you expecting?"
"You just lie in the pain with nothing to numb it?"
The older boy laughed dryly. "Well, I suppose touching myself might give me some relief. It's not like I have any suppressants and the only other way to stop a heat is...you know."
"Yeah... I do."
A matching blush etched across their faces as they ignored each other's gaze. A minute of silence filled the small room before the alpha spoke again.
"Isn't... Isn't that really awful on your body?"
"Yes, but what other choice do I have?"
Keith hesitated, contemplating whether or not he should say what had been repeating in his mind. "I mean... one option is possible right now."
Violet eyes soon meet blue ones that shown a flicker of curiosity and excitement.
"What exactly are you suggesting, Mullet?"
"I'm simply saying that maybe..." Keith felt the blush return to his face as he struggled to spit out the words. "M-maybe I could assist you with your heat."
Lance nervously began to fidget with the now wrinkled sheets of the bed, the spiced scent becoming more intoxicating with every breath he took. His omega urges were begging to take control, while more slick began leaking out of him. He wasn't sure what to do. The longer he sat, the more aroused he was at the thought of being intimate with Keith... the weaker his sanity became.
"Sorry," a gruff voice stammered, breaking Lance out of his inappropriate thoughts. "Just forget I said anyth-"
Before he could finish his sentence, Keith stumbled back into the wall as a weight pressed into him. The feeling of soft, full lips interlocked with his, making his eyes widen with shock. When Lance pulled back his eyes where glossed over with pure lust, sending a shiver down Keith's spine and a throbbing in his pants.
"Please," Lance huffed as he maintained his grip on Keith's shirt. "Help me with my heat."
