Lance sat in the bathroom for hours as he contemplated how to go about this life-changing situation. He knew he couldn't go through with aborting the child, but continuing with the pregnancy would out him as an omega.
He hugged himself tightly as the disappointed faces of his teammates and family resurfaced in his mind. Continuing with the pregnancy would put him at risk of losing everything he loves.
'Stop it,' Lance shook his head vigorously. 'Quick freaking yourself out. It isn't solving anything and it isn't good for you ... or them.'
With a light rub of his abdomen and a deep breath, the panicked male recollected his thoughts. After weighing the options carefully, he'd finally came to a decision. The best route would be to keep the child a secret from everyone. Including Keith.
When he can no longer stay hidden, he'd run off with Blue until the child was born and leave them on a planet known for its peaceful civilization. He'd tell the team he went out on a personal solo mission. Something that would get him in less trouble, and it was partially the truth.
It was a pretty solid plan. Things were going to be fine.

Although it wasn't as simple as Lance had hoped. With the pregnancy came its many increasing challenges. The constant waves of nausea wouldn't have been so bad if not for the many other painful symptoms that became a daily struggle, not to mention ignoring the hormone imbalance that made Lance turn from angry to sad to aroused on the dime. The physical changes were an issue of their own. Every passing week, Lance began to feel heavier and his abdomen slowly grew larger. While his casual clothes hid the small bump rather well, it was becoming too risky when it came to suiting up. He wouldn't be able to hide the truth much longer. It was time to go through with his plan.

Once everyone had been called to dinner, he began preparing his escape, leaving a note on his bed and packing everything he needed to survive the next few months alone. He rushed to open the door, not taking notice of the pretty alpha walking in his direction.
"I figured you'd be in the dinning hall by now."
Keith's deep voice interrupted the other's 'stealthy' escape. Lance stumbled back against his bedroom door, alarmed that he was caught in the act.
"Y-Yep, I was on my way there right now," he chuckled nervously.
Keith titled his head to the side and looked passed his partner. Lance followed his gaze to the duffel bag still strapped against his shoulder.
"After I did some laundry! Just gonna do some laundry and then I'll be right there."
He noticed Keith's vibrant eyes scanning intently across his own.
"Are you okay? You've seemed a little off lately. Is there something bothering you?"
The omega forced out a laugh. "Alright, you caught me. I'll admit I have been acting a bit different. Haven't gotten good sleep in awhile and you know I can't function properly without a full eight hours."
"Sometimes insomnia can be caused by troubled thoughts. Has there been something on your mind?"
"There's no reason to worry about me. Really, I'm fine-"
Lance gasped softly at the sudden flutter in his stomach. He pressed a hand against the small bump directly where the first movement occurred. A second one arrived not long after. He shivered.
The sensation was... new. To feel the little life interact for the first time was remarkable. The signs of activity caused a squirming inside of the omega that almost made him giggle. This was a special moment between the omega and child. A child that he was going to give away...
He slowly glimpsed over at his partner, whose stoic expression barely concealed the tenderness behind his eyes. Lance bit his lip. This wasn't right.
'I can't do this.'
"Keith, there's something you should know. I'm just afraid that once I tell you, everything is going to fall apart."
Anxiety clouded the alpha's brain with many intrusive thoughts, putting him at a loss for words. He nodded for the other to continue.
The omega casted his eyes downward and held himself tightly. 'No turning back now.'
"Truth is-"
By pure coincidence or sheer irony, the entire castle jolted then shut down abruptly. The only light available flashed in a dim red as the alarms blared.
"What the heck is going on?!"
There was another rough jolt, accompanied by the sound of crashing.
"Someone's invading the castle." Keith activated his bayard. "I'll go check it out. You stay in your room."
"No way, I'm going with you."
"Lance, we have no idea what were up against. "
"Which is exactly why you need backup. Now let's move."
He powered his own weapon and pushed down the hall. A hand gripped tightly onto his wrist before he could get too far.
"Stop arguing and go hide now!"
Lance stiffened, his omega deeply affected by the alpha's command. He looked back in disbelief. "Did you seriously just...?"
Keith stared back confused before the reality of what he'd done sank in. He let the other go and cupped a hand over his mouth. "I didn't mean that. "
"I'm not vulnerable, Keith. I'm just as capable of defending myself as I've always been. My omega doesn't change that. "
"I-I know, I just...I can't risk it this time."
The Blue Paladin's heart sank as he understood. He chuckled coldly.
"Glad you thought it'd be right to make that choice for me. After I confided in you about my past and all the discrimination I went through, you use the one thing I hate about myself against me. Just to get your way. I trusted you with everything. And for the first time in my life, I finally felt safe being who I am outside of my home. I didn't realize that moment would be so short lived."
"Wait, I'm sorry. Please-"
"Just save it," the omega growled.
The atmosphere was thick with regret. Neither of the lovers spoke.
Lance shoved his hands in pockets and trudged back down the hall.
"Where are you going?"
"To my room. Omegas can only disregard an alpha so long before their bodies start to punish themselves. Oh, I guess you wouldn't know what that was like, would you?"
He glared at the other with glassy eyes.
A sliding door divided the partners and ended the conversation on a negative note. Keith wasn't sure how to fix things or if he even could. He'd betrayed Lance's trust. Trust that had been so hard for the omega to give away.
He struggled with his balance as a jostling of the ship returned his attention to the bigger situation.
He'd make things up to Lance later. Defending their base was most important.
'I hope you can forgive me.'
