Am I...?

It was around four o' clock the following morning when Lance was awoken by an unbearable pang in his abdomen. It wasn't long before the omega was forced to stumble out of bed and into the adjacent bathroom. He spilled the contents of his stomach in the toilet with a horrible retching sound, followed by involuntary dry heaving. His throat burned and his tongue had a sour taste.

With a shaky hand, he flushed the waste down and staggered to his feet towards the sink. In the mirror, he noticed how disheveled he looked; pale skin, unkempt  hair, and dark bags underneath his eyes.

He huffed at his unflattering appearance with a small shrug.

'I'll need to put extra work into my next personal care routine,' he noted to himself.

He rinsed his mouth and trudged back to bed before another wave of nausea could hit.

Hunk waited for his friend a few moments longer, using the time to gather all the ingredients needed for the morning meal. It was routine for Lance to meet Hunk in the kitchen to help with breakfast. While Lance would sometimes choose to spend his time elsewhere, it was odd for him not to inform Hunk beforehand.

Hunk checked the time; seven-thirty. Lance was twenty minutes late. With a sigh, he continued cooking breakfast on his own. Once the food dishes were set out, he called everyone to the dinning room through the comms. His fellow teammates filled the room, apart from Lance, who had yet to be seen.

"Isn't he normally with you in the morning?" Pidge questioned.

"Yes, but he never showed up. He never told me he had other plans today. It's not like him to ditch without any explanation."

Something felt off.

The yellow paladin pushed his untouched plate to the side and stood up from the table. "I'll go check his room. Maybe he overslept."

The others continued eating as Hunk traveled through the corridor. He knocked firmly on Lance's door.

No response.

"Lance, I just wanted to let you know that breakfast is ready. Come eat it before it gets cold."

"..."

"...Are you alright in there?" Three stern knocks.

The one-sided conversation made Hunk uneasy. It wasn't like Lance to be so unresponsive. Something was very off.

"I'm getting nervous, so I'm coming in."

Hunk slid open the door to find an empty room on the other side. He stepped further into the small space.

"Lance? Lance, are you in here?"

"H-hunk, is that you?"

Hunk turned towards the muffled voice, facing the bathroom door. He stood right against the wall separating him from his friend.

"Yeah, I'm here. You never showed for breakfast. I wanted to make sure you were okay."

"I'm alright, I'll be out in a..." A sickening belch and gagging echoed from the other side. Aggressive coughing followed after.

"Oh no, I know that sound. You're sick! Hang on, I'll go inform the others."

Just as Hunk went to make his leave, the bathroom door hissed opened, and a weak hand gripped his shoulder. Lance stood behind him with tired, pleading eyes.

"Please don't tell them. I don't want anyone making a big deal over it- and that includes you. I must've caught a stomach bug. It could be possible with how often we visit neighboring planets. Nothing to worry about."
