To be honest, Taeyang wasn't having a bad time

To be honest, Taeyang wasn't having a bad time. The royal food was amazing, the job Yeonjun had found for her wasn't exhausting as to wanting to not do it again, and she had also had some time to spend with the princes and Taehyun after her shift was over.

All in all, this whole ordeal didn't seem too scary anymore. The only thing that was having her sometimes wanting to escape was... miss Yeobin.

She walked everywhere looking at her as if she suspected something was wrong with Taeyang. Whenever miss Yeobin was in the room with Yeonjun and Taeyang, supervising the work they'd be doing, her eyes would travel from the boy to the girl and she would click her tongue. It was as if she was either trying to figure Taeyang out, or if she was trying to find something to get her fired.

Thing is, Taeyang didn't think she could ever be fired. At least not for the first six months. Not when Yeonjun was courting her.

Right now she was standing in the back of the office, holding onto a small notebook that wasn't open, and looked at Yeonjun while he instructed Taeyang all the things they had to do until the day was over.

"Miss Yeobin, weren't you called to the kitchen?", his eyes met the old woman's. Taeyang was puzzled.

"Not really, I–"

"Yes, I think you were", he replied. They looked at each other in silence. Taeyang felt as if the air was sucked out of the room, and every little movement could open a dark whole that would suck her out of there and into a void. Maybe being sucked into a void was better than being there, in the silence, while the King was having a stare contest with miss Yeobin.

The old woman got up, adjusted her glasses, bowed towards them both and left the room swiftly.

"Well... that was weird", she commented. Yeonjun scoffed with a small smile growing on his lips. "What?"

"She's jealous of you", he giggled.

"What?!", now she was weirded out.

"Oh, not like that. It's just that she has always been the official person to take care of royal affairs. She basically raised me and the two little demons when mother was too busy with reigning", he smiled. "And now you come and take her job away little by little... she's jealous. But it's also time for her to retire", he added.

"If she retires, then who will take over her job?", she asked. If we get married, I won't be able to be your royal secretary anymore, was something she wanted to say but didn't.

"Soobin or Beomgyu", he replied. "Maybe Soobin; I think Beomgyu doesn't want to deal with government stuff".

She hummed, deep in thought.

"Anyways", he said to get her to pay attention to him again. "How is the weather today?"

"Sunny, a bit chilly but good enough", she smiled. "Today's sunrise was beautiful, you should've been there".

"Saw it from my room", he added.

"With me, I meant", she mumbled.

Her cheeks were burning red, and she could feel his eyes on her. She talked herself into looking up, just to find him there, a smug smile on his lips, his thumbs on his pants' pockets, and his head tilted.

"I was planning on something else for our first date", he murmured. "Do you want to watch the sunrise together?"

"I want to do many things together", she started. Feeling like she was going to explode, she continued, "I am scared as hell but I am all in, at least for these six months. Let's do this", she extended her hand.

Yeonjun's smile could've been confused with the perfect sunrise Taeyang had seen that morning. He gave her his hand, intertwining their fingers, and squished softly.

"You don't know how happy that makes me; how long I have been waiting for this", he admitted.

"Okay", she slipped away from his hold. "We have a meeting with the soccer team in two hours, and before that, you need to get in that phone call you have been avoiding about the whole Kimchi situation", she stood up.

He let his head hang low and scoffed.

"The plan was for you to fall in love with me, not to actually be the best personal assistant and have me call the Agriculture Department about kimchi", he looked at her and squished her cheeks in one hand. "You are adorable, Kang Taeyang".

"Well, same to you, King Yeonjun"
