Julie and I stood there for a solid minute before either of us had an excuse. I mean. there were 3 other boys with us and then they poofed out of thin air.
All eyes were on us.
The guy who did lights came out and asked us "Hey, where did the rest of your band go?"
"Wait, were those holograms?" One of Carrie's dancers asked. That's actually perfect.
"Yes! Yes, they were holograms." Julie replied. Thank god.
"I plugged it into the ceiling projector before the show. I'd explain it but we'd be here all day." I added and smiled. Please get me off this stage.
The students bought it. They all cheered for us.
"Okay people. Show's over. Let's get back to class please." The principal said and shooed everyone out.
Mrs. Harrison walked over to us. Another problem to tackle.
"Mrs. Harrison, we are so sorry for not asking for permission. We just wanted to show you we belong here." I said sincerely.
"As amazing as that was, your spots have already been filled by other students." She replied as two small students came barreling down the stage stairs with instruments triple the size of them.
"Come on, those are way too big for them!" Julie protested.
"They'll grow into it. I wish that I could help you guys, but my hands are tied." She told us.
"Mine aren't. And as much as I didn't approve of this little stunt that you guys pulled, I will not go down in history as the principal that kicked Aurora and Julie Molina out of the music program." The principal said to us. We did it.
"Thank you!" Julie and I both said. I'm so happy.
"But...when you win your first grammy, I want to be thanked." She added.
"Definitely." Julie replied.
With that the principal walked away and Mrs. Harrison engulfed us both into a hug.
"Congratulations! Welcome back." She was just as happy we were back as we were to be back.
Flynn and Lydia waited for us. Now, I thought Lydia was going to be happy for me but I seemed to have misread that.
"I'm back in the music program!" I went over and smiled.
"Cool!" She said in the most unenthusiastic tone.
"Cool? You okay?"
"I'm fine. When did you start playing with a hologram band?" She asked. There it was.
"It was just a song. We're not a band. They're a band! Definitely holograms." I replied, not as calmly as I'd liked.
"Why didn't you tell me?" She asked. Shoot.
