Part 60

"Mama...."

After having so much fun in the island, I decided to call Mingyu and take me before sunset. He came and delivered me back to the private island safely but we had a race up to the bedroom and fight for who will sleep in the bed.

"I will sleep there!"

"No! I will!"

"I'm a girl!"

"So what? I told you I have two heads and that's enough reason for me to sleep here!"

"Shut it! I'm more than enough reason to sleep here!"

"No! You sleep on the couch!"

"No way! You sleep there!"

"I won't! I will sleep here because I'm the one who invited you here!"

"I will sleep here because I'm a visitor!"

"I will!"

"No! I will!"

And after pushing and pulling each other, Mingyu tripped and we both fell, I fell down on the bed and he fell on top of me that made us silenced and pierce at each other's eyes. His face is only an inch close to mine that made me kick him and he fell on the ground afterwards.

"Ow! What was that for?!"

"That's for falling above me! That hurts!"

"Damn."

"Just go sleep on the couch! At least be considerate!"

"I told you I don't want to sleep there!" He said and stood up and crawled on the bed and quickly slumped himself.

"I won't be sleeping beside you!"

"Then you sleep on the couch!" He said and buried his face on the pillow. I had no choice and just sighed in defeat and jumped out of the bed.

"Fine! You selfish moron!" I said and left the room, walking downstairs with red, smoky ears. Yep, a cartoon-like reaction.

I sat on the couch and was about to lie down when I heard something scratching the glass door of the backyard. Turn out, it's a squirrel.

"Bud, it's almost night time. Why are you here? On our island?" I asked and opened the glass door for him to enter.

The squirrel ran on places and created tingling sounds and I wondered what it causes, turns out that it's his collar with his name.

"Johnny?" How cute of a name for a squirrel.

I saw a jar of nuts that most squirrels eat at the kitchen and took two handfuls of it and placed it on the tabletop across the couch where I'll be sleeping and Johnny came there and started munching on the nuts.

"Guide me while I sleep, okay?" I said and just watched him eat until I fell asleep.

Two days passed and as the usual thing, I visit Uncle Reymond's bar and tries out his drink for me and gives him extra pay for it.

"It's already mid-week, on a few days you'll be departing there already and I will not be serving this drink for you anymore." Uncle Reymond said and looked down.

"I will surely try to visit you here again with my Mama, Uncle." I said and smiled.

"Your mama?"

"Yeah, Mama Veronica is very caring and she loves going on places. She'd definitely love to be here and try out your specialty for me." I said and he seemed to not be pleasured to hear me say those which I really wondered why.

"Why, uncle Reymond? Is there a problem?"

"No, no.. I just uhmm... Missed my daughter and my wife." He said.

"Where are they?"

"Uhmm... Well.. Since I work here and often go home.. Uhmm.. I-I uh... Don't see them that much..." He said with an unsure look and he scratched the back of his neck.

"Oh.. Is that so? I hope you'd see them again sooner."

A few more hours passed and I had so much fun talking and laughing together with uncle Reymond, I suddenly got call from an unknown number.

"Hello..?"

"Hi, is this Veronica Lee's daughter?" A woman said and my brows curled that made uncle Reymond look at me in confusion.

"Yes... W-why?"

"Ah, Hana Choi. Hello, this is Konkuk University Medical Center, your neighborhood called us to deliver Veronica to the hospital after collapsing on the ground at exactly 4:30PM. We would like to inform you that your mother is in a critical condition after having a conflict inside her body, specifically, internal bleeding..."

Out of my mind, I dropped my phone and didn't dared to pick it up and listen to the doctor speaking, uncle Reymond kept asking me about Mama but I refused to answer and picked up the phone on the ground, leaving the bar and quickly called Mingyu to deliver me back to the capital as quick as possible which he did.

"Stay calm, Hana. We'll be there in a few minutes now." Mingyu said and tried to calm me as I burst into tears while thinking of Mama.

Upon arriving back at the land, I didn't hesitated to quickly jump off the yatch and run to Mingyu's car so we can go faster to the hospital.

"We're almost there."

The drive is well, pretty fast and I jumped off the car and rushed inside the hospital and looked for the counter and ask where is my Mama's room.

"Veronica Lee is currently at the emergency room."

Running with all of my might up to the emergency room, I met the nurse and he only gave me a doubtful look.

"S-so... H-how is my Mama? Is she alright?"

"She had to go on a surgery and stop the internal bleeding which I'm so unsure if she could survive. This is a life-risky point and we just have to pray for her to be strong." The nurse said and politely bowed before leaving.

I knelt down the ground and couldn't help but burst into tears. Mingyu bent down at my height and wrapped me between his arms and caressed my back to comfort me.

"Your mom will be okay. Let's pray she'll surpass this."

"I-I can't lose mama! N-no! I-I should've not taken her lightly!"

"Don't blame yourself for it. You didn't do anything wrong.."

"M-mama wouldn't d-die! N-No!"

"Yes..." Mingyu said and kissed my forehead and placed his chin above my head.

"Yes, she won't..."

Time is so quick and after a few hours of waiting outside the room, the doctor along with the nurses pushing out Mama's bed with her being fully covered with the white blanket, the doctor and the nurses gave me a worried and apologetic look.

"I'm sorry to say..."

"But Miss Veronica failed to survive.."
