"So, where are you headed, kid?" I told the skinny, dark haired truck driver I was going to Charming to find my father. "You passing through there?", I asked him. "Sure", he replied.
I woke up to the truck driver shaking my arm. "We're here, sweetheart". I thanked him, grabbed my bag and hopped out of the truck. "You know, Charming ain't the best place for a young gal like yourself", he told me and ran his fingers through his greasy hair. "I can take care of myself, thanks", I assured him as I walked backwards, heading for the drugstore. The heat finally struck me as the truck drove away. God, it was hot that day.
The cashier gave me a funny look as I walked in. "I, uuh, would like a pack of Lucky Strikes", I said, with a little hint of nervous in my voice. The girl turned around and looked for the pack of smokes. She jumped at the sound of the bell ringing, as a guy walked in. I glanced at him and noticed his patch. He had blonde hair, down to his shoulders and a beard as light as the hair on his head. "6.25", the cashier demanded. I handed her the money and walked out.
I sat down on the steps when I came out and lit my sigarette. The MC-guy came out, and i took a peek over my shoulder. "Vice president, huh?", i asked, like the wise ass I am. "Yeah.. You're not from charming", he said and he wasn't asking. "Actually, I am." I told him. "I left with my mom when I was seven", I elaborated, "I'm here to find my dad, actually". He smirked. "Who's your daddy?". I wanted to tell him it was none of his business, but I really didn't want to offend a biker guy so I just shook my head. He wished me luck and hopped on his bike.
I went down to a motel and got my self a room. The curtains and bedspread were orange, but the place wasn't too shabby. I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror. My hair was a mess and I smelled like fries and burgers. I got in the shower and washed my long brown hair. When I finished I decided to rent a car. The car rental place didn't have many cars for rent, so I got a Toyota Yaris. I drove downtown looking for Teller-Morrow. My mom said I would find my dad there.
I took a left, and I saw the Teller-Morrow sign. I stopped for a minute. "Do I really want to meet him? Why didn't he try to find us?", I thought. I hesitated, but drove in. I parked my car and got out. The first person I saw, was the blonde VP i met at the drugstore. "Car trouble?", he asked. "Actually, umm, I was looking for a Philip Telford", I told him. He raised his eyebrows. I almost thought they would blend in with his hairline. "Chibs? What for?", I heard someone say behind me. A tall guy with beanie and a patch, came towards me. "Another croweater", he laughed. "Nah, bro, I think she's Chibs daughter", the VP said. "I'm Jax, and this is Opie", he explained. "Come on in".
Jax and Opie lead me into the bar. "Hey, Chibs", Opie yelled. Another guy with a patch walked in. He had scars on his face. He stood there like a question mark. "I'm, uhh, I'm, Cassie. Cassie Telford", I stuttered. "Do you recognize me?". He came closer and closer. His face was now right next to mine. "Cassie? You're really Cassie?". He had the accent I remembered. I nodded carefully and glanced over at Jax and Opie. Before I could brace myself, my dad had already embraced me and let go before he said "I haven't seen you in..", "You haven't seen me in thirteen years", I interupted. The bitterness in my voice was definately noticeable. I didn't mean to. "I'm so sorry, sweetheart", he said. His voice cracked and you could almost feel his regret. "Why.. Why didn't you come with us when we moved? Why didn't you try to find us?", i whined. My eyes were watering. "I.. Your mother didn't want me to.", he told me. I asked him why and he avoided eye contact. He told me that she didn't like SAMCRO. "What the hell is SAMCRO?", I demanded to know. "Sons of Anarchy, MC, Redwood Original", he informed me. I sat down at a table and he joined me.
"How's your mother?", he asked. I told him that she died of lunge cancer about two months ago. "Before she died, she told me where I could find you. She didn't to leave me behind with no family" He wanted to know where I was staying and I informed him about my modest motel room. "You can't stay there". He looked over at Jax and Opie and Jax gave him a nod. I demanded to know why. "You'll stay at Jax's house, it's safer there". It seems that my father called forth a lot of "Why's" from me. "Because if the wrong someone find out your my daughter, you wouldn't be too safe alone". I wanted to know more, but I knew the answers would be vague.
