Hissing and noises of machines are the things that fill the Fright Zone at night. Towers on the look out for any possible threat that could invade the Fright Zone. This world is full of danger and decay. At least that is what they had told the young soldiers. The only retreat that they have from this dark world is when they sleep, hoping that their dreams have something delightful in store for them. However, that isn't possible for one of the cadets.

The barracks were filled with the snores of the young cadets. Snores that make Catra jealous. Wishing she could sleep. But how could she? When the memory of Shadow Weaver from earlier that day keeps replaying in her head. She was only following orders, but that didn't seem to stop the abusive words and actions of the abuser.

"Catra!"

Shadow Weaver's voice was thick like venom. Making Catra's hair stand on her neck. She turned from her locker to face her superior officer. Saluting her and stiff as a board. Catra's face was met with the palm of a pale hand. She yelped from the contact and bared her teeth as she touched the sensitive cheek.

"That was a disappointment cadet! Worse even! Adora gave you a command, and you failed!"

The other cadets in the locker room tried to ignore the dramatic scene before them. Knowing that if they were to interfere, they would face the same wrath. So they proceeded in changing their clothes. Catra's fingers curled into fists. Her nails digging into her skin. She stood face to face with Shadow Weaver.

"I did exactly as what I was told to do. If anything, I'd say I excelled compared to the other cadets. So why are you punishing me?"

"That is exactly the issue. You have never excelled in anything until Adora led this exercise. Which must mean that you have been slacking this whole time. Proving that you are so worthless and conceited, that you refused to fight to your full potential as a way to rebel against me!"

Before Catra could speak again, red light formed around her. Trapping her in a painful force of magic. Shadow Weaver's soul less eyes flashed a look at the locker room door. Softening when she saw a blonde rush over to her, placing herself in between Shadow Weaver and Catra. With Catra still in her grip, Shadow Weaver looks at Adora.

"Adora." She cooed. "Maybe you could help me."

Adora looked at Catra's panicked eyes. Trying to read them as she has always been able to do. She sees pain in her eyes and a vulnerability that can only be seen by Adora. Adora reached her hand behind her to try and hold Catra's. To provide some kind of comfort.

"Please, Shadow Weaver. Stop hurting her, she didn't do anything wrong."

A small tear formed at the edges of her eyes. It was quickly blinked away to prevent anyone from seeing. Her heart pounded in her chest with suspense as Shadow Weaver remained silent. The only thing Shadow Weaver gave was a still and constant stare at Catra.

Catra began to pant from the pain. Feeling constricted and stabbing at her lungs and body. And trying to force herself to move was more painful. Adora could see the pain in her eyes. She took a step closer to Shadow Weaver while keeping her grip on Catra. Adora wasn't too sure of what she was going to do. But if Shadow Weaver didn't stop soon, she had to do something.

Fortunately, she didn't have to do anything. The red light of the magic that wrapped itself around Catra had faded away. She fell to her knees and gasped for air. Clenching her nails into her knees. Tearing the fabric of her pants as she gripped tighter. She looked up at Shadow Weaver, who looked at Adora then back at Catra.

"Next time, I won't hesitate to finish what I started."

She growled as she walked out of the locker room. Adora bent down to Catra's side. Hesitant to put her hand on her shoulder. Fearing that it might frighten her. But she proceeds to place her hand on her shoulder. Softly caressing her with her thumb. Pleased when Catra didn't flinch or reject the gesture. The majority of the other cadets were already out of the room. But the few that had remained, just proceeded with changing their clothes.

"Are you alright?"

"I almost choked to death. What do you think?"

Catra stood up and walked over to the sink. Looking at herself in the mirror. She noticed the faded circles under her eyes. Placing her hand on the circles then sliding down to her throat. Rubbing it hoping to rub away the terrible choking feeling that was lingering. She looked at the other cadets in the room through the mirror, then at Adora, who had walked beside her leaning against the wall.

Catra turned on the faucet and splashed the cold water against her face. Feeling a little more refreshed and relaxed. Adora smiled and handed her a towel. As she dried off her face, Adora leaned closer to her ear.

"After you are done, do you want to follow me to the roof?"

She knows that the roof has always been their special place. A place where the two talk about things bothering them if it has gotten too much for them to handle. A place where they get away from everything. A place to talk about their future plans to take over the Fright Zone and rule Etheria. But right now, it'll be used as a place to let Catra get away from everything.

"Sure. Whoever gets there last, has to forfeit their grey ration bars for a week."

The two give each other a competitive smirk and moments later they raced out the door of the locker room. Laughing the whole way.

Catra sighed as she looked around the room. Her ears twitched as she heard rustling from the person below her. Soft whimpers and tossing and turning made Catra lean over the mattress to look beneath her. To see Adora clenching her blankets so hard that her knuckles turned white. Whatever dream she was having, it seemed to really frighten her.

Catra looked at Adora with a soft smile stretching her lips. She hopped off her bunk to lean against the side of Adora's. The blonde shivering in her sleep, curling against the blankets. Catra didn't know what to do. She didn't want to frighten her - more than she already was - by shaking her awake. But she also didn't want her to remain locked in her nightmare.

She sat there for another moment, startled when Adora shot up flailing her arms.

"Adora! Stop it's just a dream!"

Adora's arms came to her side as Catra pulled them down. Sweat beads dripped down her face. She wiped them off when Catra let go of her arms. She looked at Catra then down at her lap. Looking at her hands then up at Catra again.

"Do you want to talk about it?"

Adora sighed. "Not really."

Catra could still tell that Adora was shaking. Whatever the dream was about, it had to be pretty bad to make her still tremble. She wrapped her tail around Adora's hands. Making Adora turn her attention to Catra again.

"Do you need me to sleep on your bunk again?"

Adora softly chuckled. "You're starting to get into a habit of that aren't you?"

"Well, heights aren't really my kind of thing anyway."

The two giggled as Catra pulled her blanket down. She curled up under Adora's feet. Pulling her blanket over her. Adora's trembling had decimated. Catra smiled to herself, happy that she could comfort the blonde. She looked up at Adora.

"Goodnight, Adora."

"Goodnight, Catra."

Adora smiled at peace. The two layed their heads down. Quickly drifting off to a peaceful night. Full of beautiful sweet dreams to savor, until they arise the next morning.
