.....
Seungeun looked down at his small, blood stained hands.
Plop, plop, plop.
The blood dripped down on the ground, mixing with the red puddle. Only an incoherent sound came out of his throat as his lower crushed jaw hung loosely.
In front of the colossal monsters inside the gate, he resembled an ant that could get easily squashed by their feet. Their beady eyes were glaring down at him menacingly, reminding him of his cold and chilling father's eyes.
He wanted to crawl away from them and hide somewhere that they couldn't reach him. It was better to stay in that dirty, small bathroom rather than going through this living hell.
The monster swung their blade towards him.
Seungeun looked in horrification, the monster overlapping with his father that would always strike him in the past.
"Dad! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" The words that he wanted to scream couldn't even come out correctly. His pleas were useless against the cold-blooded and merciless monsters.
Green blood splattered on his pale face. The monsters fell down on the ground, shaking the earth briefly.
"The government didn't pay me enough for this shit. How are the fuck are you going to kill a single damn monster if all you can do is cry? This is really wasting my time." A low, deep voice muttered from behind him.
"Get up."
That was the first time he entered the gate.
Seungeun woke up from the loud noise of the other prisoners. There were footsteps walking in the hallway and soon enough, Jinwoo and Jinho appeared on the other side of the bars.
Although Seungeun was imprisoned, he still didn't neglect his duty to get an update about Jinwoo's progress. The two of them had finished the remaining C-rank gates that they had to clear according to Jinho's contract.
Jinwoo was shocked at first. He stared at the youth that had his back turned towards them, gripping the bar in suppressed anger. "Don't worry Seungeun. I'll bring you out soon."
All he could feel was immense hatred towards the people that treated him unfairly. He only received the news that Seungeun was locked up from Jinho.
"This is my fault. I couldn't protect the two of you. Even though I'm stronger than before..." Jinwoo didn't continue any further. Everything had happened. Even if he apologised, the dead wouldn't return back alive.
Jinho had a grim expression. He didn't even know that they were targeted by an S-rank hunter. "I'm also sorry, dongsaeng. If only I wasn't so oblivious, I could've hired hunters to protect you both."
Jinwoo clenched his fists and stalled for a long time before he finally said, "Your brother have been buried."
Seungeun was motionless throughout the whole time, resembling a statue. "Oh."
It was as if a heavy stone weighed down his heart. Jinwoo couldn't help but blurted another apology. "I'm sorry."
Until the end, that was the only response they received. Jinwoo couldn't take the suffocating feelings and left hastily. Jinho followed the older man and gave a sympathetic glance.
