Ch. 1 I don't like change

Jaydah Mykel Reid-Corvin

"Mom!! Where's my 'Fast As Bolt' shirt!!" I yelled downstairs as I tried to last minute pack all of my tshirts.

We are leaving in an hour and I waited until the very last minute to pack my clothes... just as my brother did.

"Jay!! Where's my navy Nike shirt! You know.. the one with the swoosh on the left side?" He yelled.

"They're both down here!" My mom yelled making us zip downstairs to retrieve them.

Apparently where Grandpa Reid lives is a very snowy backland. Meaning it is cold and overcast the whole time.

Just the weather I liked.

By the time I was done all of my clothes were packed along with my electronics that didn't need an Internet connection.

"Are you guys ready yet?" My father yelled upstairs already irritated because we were just like lace in packing.

"Yeah!!" We chorused.

"Lace you aren't allowed to talk to our kids anymore." I heard my mom telling Lace downstairs.

"What why?!?" Lace asked shocked.

"Because they are picking up their methods after you." My mom said.

I tuned the rest of their conversation out as I stared at my room. The purple walls looked black as the only light that shone against them was the light from the moon. The black covers that were thrown messily across my bed were surrounded by a purple sheet that I usually used to sleep. The rest of the room being occupied by a desk, my dresser, and my bedside tables.

I let out a deep breath and turned around while hauling one of my suitcases over my shoulder and the next two in my hands.

I walked downstairs to see that I was the first one down there.

"I win Jonah!!" I yelled.

"That's not fair! I have shoes to pack!" He yelled back.

"It's not like you're going to wear all of them! You'll pick one pair to wear all summer or just go barefoot." I yelled back.

"Leave your brother alone Jay." my mom said while opening the front door for me.

"It's fun messing with him." I whined.

"I know Jay." she said chuckling as she grabbed the Escalade keys and popped the trunk. I set my luggage inside and opened the backseat door and sat down, waiting for Jonah.

After three minutes I rolled down the window and yelled, "Jonah!!! Get your ass out here now!"

Although I didn't want to go I had a thing about being late. Jonah on the other side thought the later the better.

He walked out the door with a bag over his shoulders and four suitcases.

"I'm coming Blue. Don't get your panties in a bunch." he said struggling to keep his grip on his bags.

"What the hell Jojo? Did you pack your whole life?" I asked watching out the window as he carried his bags to the back.

I could've gotten out and helped him.

But it's his fault for taking all that stuff when he's not going to use it all.

"I brought 'just in case' outfits." He said.
