The Coma

It was the afternoon of June 13, 2016. My boss let me leave work a few hours early. It was mine and my wife's anniversary. We had been married for 30 years. It was snowing which I was used to so I knew how to drive. I was driving slow on the way home when a car slammed into me. The roads were icy so it was very hard to control my car after I was hit. I tried so hard not to slam into a tree but failed. My body flew through the front windshield and hit the tree. I thought I was gonna die to be honest. The next thing I know, I start floating above my body. I see a paramedic rush over to my bruised and cut up body. I watch him check to see if I was even breathing, I was but barely. I was loaded onto a stretcher and put in the back of the ambulance. About 30 minutes pass and we get to the hospital. I'm rushed inside and put into a room. The nurse comes in and asks the paramedic if I have any family. He tells the nurse that I have a wife. The nurse calls my wife to tell her I was in a bad accident and that she needs to come up here immediately. Once my wife gets to the hospital, she rushes in and asks where I am. She bursts into the room crying and asking if I was okay. The nurse tells her that I have fell into a coma because slammed into a tree. I watch my wife come over to my bloody, cut up body. She asks for a minute alone with me and the nurse obliges. She sits in the chair beside me and holds my hand. She says "I know you can't hear or see me but I love you Danny." I wish you knew how bad I wanted to say "I love you too Marissa."
