Chapter Five: Dominix

We left the cabin and walked on foot to my house. "It's faster if we don't go through the woods," I reminded. We finally made it to my house about thirty minutes later. "Come on. Over here. There's a weak spot," I said, jumping the fence behind my house. "Dom, why are we sneaking?" Sidney asked, jumping the fence. "The lights are on. Someone's home," I said. "And? This is your house," Sidney asked. "Come behind here and I'll tell you," I said, moving behind the shed in the backyard. Sidney moved behind the shed and I pointed at the light in the window on second floor. "That light shouldn't be on unless there was a problem. That room is the twin's. It's a signal that only my family knows. The twins would turn it on when mom or dad was awake when I would sneak out," I said.

"What should we do?" she asked. "That door there leads into my parent's room. The generation book should be in my parent's room. I'm going to go through there. I need you to knock on the door and get whoever's attention that's inside so I can sneak in there and get the book," I said. "Bet. Let's go. Give me two minutes to get around and knock on the door," Sidney said. Sidney jumped the fence and sprinted towards the front of the house. "Help! Help me!" I heard Sidney yell. That's my que. I sprinted towards the door and quietly opened it.

I could hear Sidney instinctively talk to someone at the front of the house. I stalked over to the closet and quietly slid the door over, opening it. I turned around to check no one was behind me. Coast is clear. I pulled out a magnet and reached towards the back of the closet. I drug the magnet across the back wall of the closet until I heard a click. I moved the hanging clothes so I could see the compartment and quietly lifted the door off. I pulled our generation book out, moved the clothes back, and quietly closed the closet door.

Once I was outside, I sprinted towards the fence and launched myself over it. Sidney came sprinting around the house and shouting towards me, "Run!" I barely took off before I turned around and seen four official looking men chasing after us. "What happened?" I shouted to Sidney. "They knew who I was," she shouted back. "This way," I shouted. We ran into the woods. We ran for about ten more minutes before we finally looked behind us. We lost them. "Let's head back to the cabin now," I said. "Wait. I want to look at the book," Sidney said, stopping in her tracks.

"Take me to Cloud Nine and I will show you. If you look at it out in the open like this, we will be tracked," I said, continuing towards the cabin. "Fine," she mumbled. It took us forty-five minutes to get back to the cabin. "We can't go through the front door. It alerts whoever is in the basement that someone is here. I left my window open. We'll have to go through there," Sidney said, rounding the corner of the cabin. "Look for an open window."

The open window was on the back of the house next to the garden. I helped Sidney get through the window and then pulled myself through. Just as I closed her window, the bedroom door opened. "Oh, Sidney. I thought you would be alone," a tall slender man said. "You're still pure, yes?" "Cheese and rice, Nick. Knocking would be respectful," Sidney gasped. "Who is this and why is he in our room alone?" Nick said. "This is Dominix and he is my friend," she explained.

Nick moved so he stood in front of me. He was only a few inches shorter than I was. Maybe six foot three inches. Jet black hair, very dark brown eyes, and pale skin. "Can I help you?" I said backing up a few inches. "I was just checking on Sidney. Just wanted to know what my butter-," Nick started. "Get out," Sidney interrupted. "Okay. Okay. I'll go but you, ma'am, will see me later, alone," Nick said, backing up and turning towards the door. When he closed the door behind him, I asked Sidney "Who's Nick? You don't seem to like him that much."
