A/N: I decided the publish the next chapter.
Aileen had safely made it out of the Triskelion. She did not know anything about anyone else except for Alexander Pierce, he was killed in the accident. HYDRA had fallen, SHIELD had fallen. She didn't know what to do, after her father had died she relied on HYDRA.
She walked down the streets of DC wondering what to do with herself. Suddenly her phone buzzed in her pocket. She pulled out her phone and looked at the notification that scrolled across her screen.
Winter Soldier Update: Tracker Active
View Location (YES | NO)
There had been a smaller tracker Aileen had put in the man's bionic arm when she was fixing it up from the fight with Captain America. It was for her to keep better track of him, so she didn't lose him in any future encounters. She contemplated whether she should look or just leave the man be, after all HYDRA had fallen. She had no one to report the information to. So what was the harm in looking? The young woman's eyes accessed her phone before she thumbed the YES button.
A map pulled up on her phone with a little blue dot indicating where the Winter Soldier was. She hit the refresh button thinking maybe it was wrong, but technology rarely was.
"The Smithsonian Museum." She muttered under her breath. "Why would you be there?" She let her hair out of its tight bun and realized that it had been a while since she had showered or slept for that matter. She questioned in her head whether or not she should even go after the man, but what more did she have left. She had grown close to him, in a weird and vulnerable way. Even though she had barely spoken a word to him, in English or in Russian for that matter. She felt connected to the man with the metal arm, like she had always been met to meet him.
As she made her way to the Smithsonian, the woman would look over her shoulder every time she felt like someone was following her. She was right both times she thought so. The first time she noticed a woman and a baby going towards the museum as well. The second time she noticed a small scraggly stray dog following her. She stopped for a moment. Aileen always had a soft spot for strays. Maybe that's why she connected with the Winter Soldier so well. But the now Ex-HYDRA assassin wasn't a puppy.
She reached down and offered her hand to the scruffy brown dog. He timidly sniffed it then looked up at her expectantly. The little brown dog could use more than just affection and a bath, his ribs were clearly visible, in an unhealthy way. Aileen touched around the dog's neck as she scratched him and noticed he had no collar. They were both alone now.
"You're hungry." She commented. "I've got a mission." She grumbled, but gave into the dog's hungry begging eyes. "Come on." She told him as she noticed a hot dog stand not too far away.
She quickly paid for the hotdog and bent down giving the dog the food. He gobbled it up quickly, like he hadn't eaten in days. Aileen kept walking, hoping he would find someone else to bother.
As she kept walking she saw something out of the corner of her eye. She noticed the dog and let out a small sigh. "Go on." She said. "I'm not a good person. Go find someone else." She continued, but the dog stayed right at her side. He didn't seem to care about her words. She had given him food and affection, so in his eyes she was the best person he had met in a long time.
"Well, you can't come inside." She said as she approached the museum. "Just-Just stay." She said firmly. The dog seemed to comply as he sat down and looked up at her with his tongue hanging out of his mouth and tail wagging.
She finally entered the museum hoping the dog would leave as soon as he saw his food source was gone. Aileen internally facepalmed as she saw the first exhibit. Captain America: Super Soldier. Of course he would come here. She felt a little hope surge in her, Steve must have broken through to him. He was remembering, or at least trying to.
She looked around the exhibit for a moment. She knew a lot of Captain American's history, but it still intrigued her. Her bright green eyes started to scan the people. She noticed a rather large man not too far from her. Her eyes stopped on him, looking over him. He had a baseball cap on his head and the collar of his jacket popped up. His sleeves were pulled down as far as they could go and a glove covered his left hand. This was her guy.
"Солдат." She said just loud enough so he could hear her. He whipped around suddenly, his eyes becoming cold and steely, but only for a moment. He had remembered this girl, yes she was a part of HYDRA, but he also somehow remembered she had helped him. But in the moment he could only remember the HYDRA part.
He moved quickly and pressed her against the wall, arm to her throat. "Don't do this here." She said as she looked around at the people that started to stare at them. Bucky noticed as well and slowly let her go, but still grabbed her wrist firmly with his metal hand so that she could not go anywhere.
"How?" Was all he said.
"There's a tracker." She said as she stared at him.
"Take it out." He threatened through gritted teeth.
"Not here." Aileen told him even more harshly. "Just because HYDRA fell doesn't mean they don't have eyes everywhere. Just because they fell doesn't mean they won't come after you after they pick up the pieces. And they could do that in hours, or days." She told him.
"Why?" He gave her a strange look. She didn't know what he was asking why to. Why had she come for him? Why was she here? Why did she trust him? Why wasn't she fighting? Many questions ran through her head. She looked past him and noticed the exhibit he had been standing in front of.
