Chapter 26 : Our Date

"I didn't text you..did I?" Lizzy asks, double checking her phone.

"No, no, it was Jay." I reply in a calm voice, but my tone raised towards the end from excitement.

"Oh, what'd your lover say?" She leans in towards me.

I flick her. "He's not my lover." I pout and sit back. "He asked me on a date tonight."

I couldn't tell who's smile was wider, mine or Lizzy's. "Well, what are we still doing here? You have to get ready!" Lizzy yells and makes a move to get up.

"Calm down Liz, I have plenty of time. Why rush? I'll save the rushing for 5-hours-from-now me."

She sits back down and shrug. "Fair enough. Plus, you're like freaky fast at getting ready for things."

"It's a talent."

"I wish I could get ready quickly, but it takes a while to look this good." She prides herself and I laugh.

I look at my phone's clock. Since it was a Thursday, I was done for the day. "So, what are you going to do now? Do you have another class?" I ask Lizzy.

She thought for a second. "Do I? It's Thursday, right?" I nod. "I'm done for the day, but I'm dog sitting for someone this week, so I need to head out. What are you gonna do?"

"I think I'll stay here for a little longer. I've got some studying to do for final exams."

"Yeah, you won't be able to focus with Jay around."

"Hey, shut up! Go watch the dog, or something." I respond lamely.

She laughs loudly and slips on her backpack. "See you later, have a good night." She sang and left me alone.

Just wait 'till you and Noah have a date, then I'll get the last laugh. I thought to myself.

As much as I wanted to start with studying for my psychology class, the material was easy to me, so I didn't need to study it as much.

I decide to begin with one of my harder classes, which is statistics. That's the class I share with Lizzy, and we tend to distract each other a lot, so I don't know what's going on.

I study for an hour, making on big cheat sheet study guide, before I call it quits for the day. It's gotten to the point where I'll read the words, but not understand what I just read, so I knew I needed a break.

I didn't feel like going back to the apartment just yet, and although it was cold outside, the weather was still beautiful. I decide to take a walk around campus.

The wind blew against me, freezing my cheeks and nose, but my thick coat kept me warm enough to keep going. The sky was clear today, which gave some life to earth that's usually dulled in the winter months.

The further I went from campus, the less people I saw walking around. Why am I even walking around?

I let my legs carry me around and soon I found myself passing the pizza place I worked at. I decided to step inside real quick and say hi.

I don't know how long I walked around for, but my feet were starting to feel sore, so I took that as a chance to make my way back to the apartment.

A waft of warm air greets me when I enter the building. In the warmth, it's easy to tell how cold I am, because the feel of my cheeks contrasts greatly with the rest of the air in the lobby.

I enter the apartment and see a Jay sitting at the kitchen counter, working on his computer. He looks over at me and smiles. "Hi, Cheese."

I place my keys in their usual spot. "Hi." I reply.
