Chapter 2 : He's Hot and He's Cold

The sun rays came through my window and woke me up. I roll onto my side and stare out the window, taking in the fact that I'm officially a college student now. I have grown up, I'm my own person.

I sit up on the bed and swing my legs over the side. I grab my phone and get out of bed. I accidentally fell asleep on top of my covers last night, so I didn't have to make my bed.

When I pass by the couch, I see the remnants of what went on last night. The couch pillows were slightly askew from when I rolled over the couch and the Wii nun chuck was still on the ground, I should really pick that up.

My stomach grumbles as I open the fridge to get something for breakfast, and of course, there's nothing to eat. The fridge is full of cans of beer, a few water bottles, and the pizza box from Alex's dinner last night. I shrug my shoulders, "Better than nothing."

I heat up two pieces of pizza in the oven and sit down at the island while I wait. The birds chirp outside the window and I just listen.

Alex's door is still closed so I'm guessing he is still asleep, and I don't even want to know where the other guy is.

The pizza still has another 10 minutes to heat up, so I decide to go into the living room and watch some TV.

I haven't gotten a chance to use the TV yet, so when I turn it on, I notice I can watch Netflix. I put on Friends and sit back. I've watched the series 4 times in the past and I'm re-watching it for a 5th time, it's so good.

I'm so engrossed in the show, that I barely notice the sound of the timer going off, indicating my pizza's done.

Without taking my eyes off the TV, I make my way to the kitchen and take out a plate. I locate the oven door, when I'm backwards, and open it up as well, making sure to grab some oven mitts.

I turn my head quickly and take the pan out of the oven and put it on the counter. I grab the two pieces and head back into the living room quickly.

I sit back down in my spot on the couch. I look down at my hands, one holding the plate and the other holding the remote. "Didn't think this would be my college experience."

About 3 episodes pass before Alex comes out of his room, resembling a zombie. "Uh, good morning?" I say, not knowing what else to say. He just grumbles in response.

He goes into the kitchen and opens the fridge, grabbing the pizza box. Alex walks back into the living room and eats a piece from the box. I stare at him, "You aren't going to heat that up?"

"It doesn't matter. Hot, cold, as long as it fills me up, it's all good." he says taking another bite. He moves to sit down, and when he does, he scrunches up his face. "What did I sit on?" He reaches underneath his leg and pulls out a small sprayer. "What the- pepper spray?" He says staring at the can.

I can feel my ears turn red from embarrassment. I laugh, "Yeah, you see, funny story." He just stares back at me with a blank expression. I look down at my feet, "Um, well last night, I kind of..."

"She sprayed me in the eyes with it."

I jump when I hear his voice, and in the process of me jumping, I fall of the couch a hit the ground. "Ow."

Alex looks down to the ground where I fell, "What is wrong with you?". He helps me up and I just stand still, not moving a muscle.

Jay comes over behind Alex and glares at me, "Yeah Aubrey, what's wrong?"

I whimper slightly and I take a step back, my foot hitting a leg of the couch. I curse the couch in my head. I want to speak up and say something but I'm too scared at the moment.
