It was breakfast time the following morning. As I walked into the great hall to eat I noticed the group whispering to each other.
"Morning" I announced as I reached the table.
Everyone stopped and looked at me. Hermione looked at me somewhat sad and confused. Ron had a blank almost embarrassed expression. And Harry looked as though he was about to leap up any moment and Avada Kedavra me.
"Okay... what's going on?" I asked. Everyone kept staring.
Ron looked down at the table, Harry scoffed and did the same. Hermione, still looking at me, finally spoke.
"Why didn't you tell me?"
"Tell you what? What's going on?" I replied full of confusion.
"About Pansy..."
"That she tried apologizing for years of mental and emotional torture and I blew her off? I didn't think it was a big deal..."
"Only half of the story as usual." Harry muttered to himself.
"And what's that supposed to mean Harry?!"
He looked directly into my eyes before sneering " your best friend is sat in front of you, hurting, and you still can't tell her the truth!"
"I have no idea what you're talking about! I've just told you what happened?!"
Hermione sighed. "We overheard Pansy telling Blaise about how she tried apologizing to you and you took it as more than that..."
"Meaning?"
"You tried to kiss her Amora."
What.
"What?! No i didn't. I blew her off!"
"Look A, you know I don't care if you like girls too. With time I could even get over you liking Pansy if that's what made you happy. But why didn't you tell me? We're supposed to tell each other everything."
"Because there's nothing to tell! She tried apologizing for the past and I shut her down. She obviously can't handle rejection!"
Hermione looked down at the table and Ron finally spoke up.
"Sounds like it was you that couldn't handle rejection... you should go and sit with your lot. You've done enough damage here."
"You guys can't be serious?! You believe her over me?"
No one spoke. And I wasn't about to wait around for them to say anything else either.
"If you believe the girl who has made my life hell all these years over me, then our friendship clearly meant nothing to you anyway."
And with that I turned and walked out of the great hall and returned to the slytherin common room.
Big mistake.
