Adeline
As the week went by I found myself spending even more time with Kaleb. Whether it was getting to know him better, or sharing more passionate, sometimes steamy kisses. It was getting to a point where not even I understood what was going on anymore.
I knew that I liked him and everything he has done this last week has proven that he likes me too. I'm not usually the one to care about labels and I knew Kaleb wasn't just using me. But is it so wrong of me to want to know exactly where we stand with each other?
Kaleb could be hot and cold. One minute he would have me in a kiss that made me ache for him and the next, he'd act like we weren't just seconds away from ripping each other's clothes off and go about his day.
I couldn't keep up with him, I never knew what he was thinking. I could always ask him and I knew he'd tell me, but I want him to tell me things without me having to ask. I always tell him my thoughts without him asking.
"Hey gorgeous." A very flirty Collin greeted as he approached me by my locker. "Hey Collin." I greeted him back with a smile. "Have you seen Kaleb lately?" He asked me.
"Not recently no, is everything okay?" I asked him. "Everything's fine gorgeous. I'm simply just looking for the asshole I call my best friend." He answered with a laugh.
"Anyway, is that all you needed?" I asked. "Hm, nope. I came to invite you out to lunch with me." He informed before taking my arm and leading me away, not even waiting for an answer from me.
"Wait Collin, we still have class." I reminded him with a laugh. It was only the passing period before fourth and fifth period, we had lunch after fifth.
"Eh, I have physics next and I hate physics." He shrugged as he kept walking us down the hallway. "Collin, you're not even going the right way. The cafeteria is that way." I said, pointing the opposite direction of where we were headed.
"I never said we were eating lunch here." He informed as he pushed open the front door and led me through the parking lot.
"We could get in trouble for this." I stated but got in his passenger seat anyway. "Well if we end up getting in trouble, which we won't, I will take the blame and say I forced you to leave with me. Cameras caught me holding on to your arms so it's believable." He shrugged before turning on the engine and pulling out of his spot.
Collin ended up taking me to The Roadhouse for lunch. We talked, we joked, and we laughed. We even "spilt the tea" as Collin so eloquently put it. "Come on Addy, spill the tea with me. What's going on with you and Kaleb?" He asked in a high pitched voice to imitate a girls' before flipping his non-existent long hair.
"Nothing is going on with me and Kaleb." I told him. "Uh, yeah that's bullshit. I've seen way too many times this week, the two of you with your tongues shoved down each other's throat." He commented.
I shrugged my shoulders trying to seem unaffected, but I felt my cheeks heat up. "A kiss is just a kiss. Doesn't always mean anything." I lied. I want it to mean more.
He studied me for a moment. "Your mouth tells me it doesn't mean anything, but your eyes tell me you're lying." He responded. Damn it. Instead of responding, I rolled my eyes and finished the rest of my food.
"Addy answer me this, do you like Kaleb?" He asked me, as he too finished up his plate of food.
"Of course I like Kaleb. I don't feel comfortable going into too much detail but that night of the party, I was left in a pretty vulnerable state. Kaleb found me, he took care of me. He's been there for me ever since." I explained.
"I respect that. Just so you know and I'm sure you're aware already, Kaleb likes you too." He replied. I nodded my head because I did know.
"I have another question for you Addy." He spoke up again. "What's up?" I asked. "It's about your friend, Sawyer." He started.
"Don't even go there Collin. She's seeing someone." I told him. "She is, who?" He asked seemingly very interested for a guy that is known to only do one-night stands.
"River." I informed him. "River, please." He snorted. "You should send her my way, she won't get anything out of River." He was quick to add. "Oh and you're any better Mr one-night-stand?" I joked. He rolled his eyes at my comment.
"Of course I'm better, at least I'm honest about not wanting anything more than one night. Girls know what they're getting into when they agree. River on the hand, won't admit to shit. He'll screw her over." He said.
"Look, I don't necessarily like River either but she likes him and right now I can only hope the best for her." I told him, knowing from experience Sawyer won't listen to anything I have to say concerning River.
"We better get back to school." He stated before leaving a twenty on the table. The total was only eight dollars and as much as I protested about him paying for me, it didn't get me anywhere.
"My mother would put me in my grave if I ever let a girl pay for her food, especially if I'm the one that did the inviting and I am way too good looking to die." He joked, his dimples showing before leading us back to his truck.
"Well thank you Collin, for lunch." I thanked him as we climbed in. "You're welcome gorgeous." He responded as he started the truck and drove back to school.
After he parked in his spot and turned his truck off, he turned to face me. "You know Addy, if Kaleb ever pisses you off there's a spot in my bed reserved for you." He teased with a wink.
"You're incredible." I shook my head, laughing at him as we stepped out of his truck. It was only about ten minutes into lunch so we headed to the cafeteria.
When we got there, we spotted Kaleb, Laken, Sawyer and Karson sitting at the table. Collin made a direct b-line to Sawyer, despite my warning, and I sat down in the empty seat beside Kaleb.
"Where were you two?" He asked as I sat down. "We grabbed lunch at the Roadhouse." I informed him. "Oh really?" He asked, switching his attention to Collin.
Collin who was trying to flirt with Sawyer, noticed and turned to face him too. "I was looking for you and ran into Adeline. It was just lunch man, she's all yours." Collin explained, putting his arms up in mock surrender before turning his attention back to Sawyer.
Sawyer who was now on her phone, texting. Probably texting River and ignoring Collin. Much to Collin's dismay.
I turned back to Kaleb, who was already staring at me. "Just lunch?" He asked me for confirmation. "Just lunch, in fact we were talking about you." I informed him.
He narrowed his eyes at me at my words. "Oh, you like having my name in that mouth of yours?" His voice was serious, but I could see the amusement in his eyes.
"Not anymore than you do, I suppose." I decided to tease him back, giving him an 'innocent' look. "Fucking hell." I heard him mumble under his breath and I couldn't help but laugh.

Andddd that was Chapter Eight. For those that didn't get the joke or the teasing between Kaleb and Addy at the very end, Kaleb was pretty much teasing Addy about moaning his name. Which she hasn't actually done... yet anyway. And obviously my girl Addy can't let him have all of the fun so she decided to tease him back. And boy did it work. Got that man 🧱 up. Anywhooooo that's all for now, until next time loves. <3
