(Adeline)

When we finally made it to Kaleb's, I was exhausted. Kaleb parked his car in the driveway and I parked my car on the curb.

After turning my car off, I grabbed my bag of clothes from the backseat then went to open the door but was beat to it. Kaleb held the door open for me. "Thanks." I thanked him as I stepped out of the vehicle.

"You're welcome." He responded before leading me to the front door. I stood silently as he unlocked the door. Stepping in I looked around the room, taking in every detail.

The house itself was small, but it was cozy and welcoming. It was an open floor plan once you got out of the entry. It opened up into the living room with the kitchen off to the left side. The dining room stood just a few feet from the kitchen.

From the living room, a long hallway appeared. "You can take a shower if you'd like, the bathroom is down the hall and first door on the left." He pointed to the direction of the bathroom.

"Thank you." I stated before making my way down the hall, following Kaleb's directions to the bathroom.

Down the hallway, there were two doors on the right and two doors on the left. Stepping into the first door on the left, just like Kaleb directed, I took in the sight of the bathroom.

White tiles covered the floor. The walls were painted a pale blue color. I shut and locked the door behind me. I sat my bag of clothes down on the floor before turning on the shower.

After adjusting the water temperature and it was set to where I wanted it, I stripped out of my clothes and stepped in.

I showered quickly and once I was dressed and had my teeth brushed, I stepped out of the bathroom with my bag of clothes in hand.

I assumed the two doors on the right were bedrooms, so I pushed the door across from the bathroom open. I froze in place when I spotted Kaleb. He was in the process of changing shirts.

The sound of his door opening must have caught his attention cause his eyes darted up to meet mine.

A blush took over my cheeks and Kaleb smirked seeing my reaction. "Like the view Princess?" He asked, teasingly. Shaking my head to rid my blush, I cleared my throat. "I um.. where am I sleeping?" I asked him.

"You can sleep in my sister's old bedroom. It's the one right beside mine." He told me. "Thank you." I said before turning away and walking out of his bedroom, shutting his door behind me.

Walking to his sister's old bedroom door, I turned the knob and walked in. After walking in, I closed the door then set my bag down and looked around the room.

White carpet covered the floor and gray paint covered the walls. A full size bed sat in the middle, a brown bedside table right next to it. Once my "inspection" was over, I turned off the lights then made my way to the bed and slid in under the covers.

It didn't take long for sleep to hit me once my head hit the pillow.

"You were a mistake!"

"I wish I never had you!"

"Your father left because of you."

"You can't do anything right."

"You're worthless."

"I would be better off without your pathetic excuse of a life."

One minute, it's pitch black and all I'm hearing is her words barreling at me all at once. And the next I'm back on that ledge, only this time I was jumping and there was no Kaleb to save me.

I was being startled awake. Tears were streaming down my face and my throat was sore, telling me I had been screaming in my sleep and most likely woke Kaleb up because of it.

I sat up quickly, looking up at Kaleb. "You okay?" He asked softly, his eyes full of concern. Feeling my throat tighten up, I just nod instead of attempting to talk.

He reached over to the table where a glass of water sat. He grabbed it before offering it to me. I took it gratefully before taking a few gulps. Once that feeling in my throat subsided, I sat the glass back down.

"Sorry I woke you." I spoke quietly, avoiding his gaze in embarrassment. "Hey, it's okay. Don't worry about it." He tried reassuring me.

"Do you need anything else?" He asked me. I shook my head no. "Okay, I'm gonna go back to sleep then." He informed as he stood up to make his way out of the room to go back to his.

"Wait." I called out once he reached the door. Pausing, he turned back to me. "Will you... will you stay with me, I don't want to be alone." I asked him. He smiled softly at me, "Of course Princess."

He made his way back over to the bed before crawling in beside me. Instantly, he wrapped his arms around me in an embrace. Cuddling up to him for comfort, I rested my head on his chest. Sleep found me easy.

This chapter is short just because a lot happened with Adeline and what she is dealing with at home. Don't worry, the chapters will get longer, especially the next chapter. The next chapter will be in Kaleb's pov again. Hehe, Kaleb's a big softie that loves cuddles. Who woulda thought? Anywho, until next time loves. <3
