"Hey Addy, are you going to the party tonight?" My best friend, Sawyer, asked as she approached me.
It was Friday and we had just won a football game. Every Friday night after football games, one of the players would throw a party.
"I don't know, I've been thinking about it." I answered her. Truth was, I didn't really care to go to the party but I definitely did not want to go home and face the abuse I would receive the minute I stepped in to the house.
"You haven't been to a party since last year." She reminded me. "I know, I know. I've just had prior commitments." The lie slipped easily.
"Well do you have anything going on tomorrow?" She asked. "Well, no." I said, honestly.
"Then come. It'll be fun if you do." She shrugged innocently. With a sigh I caved, "Okay, okay. I'll come." Going to the party would keep me away from home.
"I'm gonna run home and change out of my cheer uniform first." I informed. "Okay, I'll meet you there." She replied before walking over to her car.
I wasn't actually going home, I kept a bag of clothes in my car in case of nights like this where I wanted to stay away.
I waited in my car until the last vehicle left the parking lot before changing quickly. I had decided on a burnt orange crop top with a pair of cutoff shorts and I swapped my cheer shoes for my white converse.
After changing, I turned my car on and pulled out of the parking lot onto the road, driving to the destination of the party. Once I got there, I parked my car on the curb and turned it off before making my way over to the house.
At the door, I didn't stop to knock since the music was blasting too loud to hear anyway, so I just walked on in.
I spotted Sawyer with our other best friend, Karson, as soon as I got in. Shutting the door behind me, I walked over to them.
"Hey," I announced as I approached them. "Hey Addy." They both replied. Mostly everyone called me Addy.
I toot that moment to look around the room when my gaze stumbled over a familiar figure. He was leaning against the wall, head in his phone as if whatever he was looking at was more entertaining than the party. I bet it was.
"Hey, is that Kaleb Davis?" I asked the girls, knowing full well that it was him. I don't remember him being a party animal. "Oh yeah, he comes to all of the parties now." Karson answered me, as we all stared in his direction.
"Since when?" I asked curious, raising an eyebrow. "Ever since last year when he tried out for the baseball team and became friends with Collin Andrews and Laken Prescott." Sawyer responded.
That made sense, I remember the group of guys getting pretty close when Kaleb made the team.
I couldn't help but noticed how relaxed he looked, but then again he always did.
"Addy!" A high pitched voice yelled out. I cringed slightly before turning my gaze to her. "Hey Chasity." I responded, politely.
"I'm so glad you could make it. I can't remember the last time you've been to a party." She informed. "Yeah, it's been awhile." I agreed.
"Well anyway, I just wanted to say hi but I've got to get back to Dylan now." She stated before sauntering away. Dylan Tanner was my ex boyfriend. I broke up with him when I found out he was cheating on me with Chasity.
After we broke up, he made his relationship with Chasity official and I'm pretty sure she rubs that in my face. Like I care. Dylan was an asshole and I'm better off without that cheater.
I let out a relieved sigh once she was gone. "Need a drink?" I voice asked from behind me.
