"Titans don't actually need physical sustenance to live. We don't know how, but since they have been living outside the Walls for the past one-hundred years or so without a proper food source, that seems to be the case." Shadis spoke, looking to each and every one of you who sat at the table-like desks with an uncharacteristically calm voice.
Currently, the entirety of the 104th Trainee Squad was sitting in a classroom-like space that was reserved for the lessons Shadis occasionally gave on the titans. They weren't that often, but when they did take place, there was usually some kind of information revealed that -just as you thought you were starting to know everything about the titans that there was to learn- made you feel as if you were back at square one. For today's class, you and Mikasa were sitting next to each other -Armin and Eren sitting more towards the front of the class as per the former's request- with you at the edge of the desk you shared, your barely used notes laying blankly in front of you. Your girlfriend sat in the middle of the seat, and even though there was another space left for another person to sit, no one sat on her other side -the very one next to the window that the large piece of furniture was placed against. As everyone had been settling down, you didn't manage to see where Annie chose to sit herself; all you knew was that it wasn't in front of you, seeing as you hadn't spotted her in the past fifteen minutes or so since the class had started, 'Maybe that's for the best, at least Mika won't be bothered by her.'
Something else you -now- knew, was that training outside so late into the night was not a good idea; no, you hadn't gotten caught sneaking back into the girl's dorms, nor had you encountered any wildlife that made the trip back dangerous for you or Annie. The problem that you realised you would have for the remainder of the day this morning when you got up was that you would be unbelievably fatigued, 'I didn't even eat breakfast this morning, I just slept through it all.' Mikasa had tried to get you to eat the meal through gentle, subtle kicks underneath the table, but you couldn't bring yourself to comply -merely saying as you got to the table that you were too sleep-deprived to even think about eating right now before pushing your lazily filled tray away -seeing as it was mandatory for you to get one- folding your arms, and resting your head down upon the sleeves of your leather uniform jacket. And although you found yourself to be slightly hungry now, you decided that that half-hour of sleep had been so worth it.
But that being said, you were still exhausted.
You tried your best to stay awake, widening your eyes as much as you could while you vacuously stared at the chalkboard that Shadis would occasionally use his white chalk on -it proved to be ineffective however, seeing as your eyelids still started to droop after a moment, the hand that had been holding a pencil slackening its grip as a comforting blanket of warmth and calm swept across your senses.
For a moment, you forgot everything; your mind becoming a completely blank slate. One blissful, peaceful moment.
Rustle, rustle.
A shake was placed upon your one arm, starting off on the softer side and eventually strengthening itself as you became more aware of it, "H-Huh?!" you shouted involuntarily, only realising that you had been on the verge of passing out when you blinked your now alert eyes a couple times. You let out a sigh of relief when you saw that it was only Mikasa; it soon turned into a frightened gasp, however, as two palms were slammed upon the surface of your shared desk with a frightening force, "What the FUCK do you think you're doing, (L/N)?!"
