Still holding Jimin by the cuffs of his plaid shirt, the two ran a couple of meters away from the bookstore into the open parking lot just behind it. Jimin grabbed his wrist and tugged at him to stop. "Hyung! Stop!" he said, a little breathless, "Why are we running?"
Hobi was flustered. He started jumping up and down and fanning himself with his hand. He paced in front of Jimin who was taking big gulps of air.
"What's the matter with you!?" Jimin asked. He ran his hands through his hair and pulled down his mask to breathe easier. He turned to look at the distance they covered and then back at Hobi. "Aissh, you've lost your mind." Jimin laughed. He put his hands on Hobi's shoulders and started shaking sense into him. "Calm down or I'm going to slap you."
Hobi suddenly stopped and frowned at him. "Ya." He said seriously, "Don't you dare."
"Seriously." Jimin laughed. "Was that really Aiko?" Hobi nodded and was blinking rapidly. "What do you want to do?"
"I don't know." Hobi shrugged. "I have so many questions. But like..we never even kept in touch so why would she write about me? How does she even know what I'm like?"
A big grin formed on Jimin's face. "So, you do think you're Hopi." He nodded.
Hobi's back stiffened. "Well, thanks to all of you! Now I'm being presumptuous!"
"Hyung! Let's ask her if you're Hopi!" Jimin said excitedly. "Hyung! Think about it!" He started jumping around.
Hobi started shaking his head vehemently. "No, no. It's going to be awkward. Like what am I going to say? Hi Aiko, I read your book. By the way, am I Hopi? I don't think so. Bad idea." His default aegyo voice always entertained Jimin and it made him smile.
"Hyung! How are you going to find out? What if you are Hopi and she's been carrying a torch for you all these years? Aren't you the least bit curious?"
Hobi crossed his arms over his chest and thought about it for a moment. "How does she know my personality so well?"
"Everything about us is on the internet. Real and fake. Uwu..uwu...She must be an A.R.M.Y.!" Jimin offered. Hobi frowned so Jimin continued, "That would be cute, don't you think?" He grabbed Hobi's arm making them fall loose by his side."Hyung, you have to meet her. Do it for me. Do it for all of us. We want answers too!!"
They walked back. Jimin adjusted his mask and pointed toward a park bench near the bookstore where they could sit and wait for Aiko to come out. "When she comes out, you could be like..Aiko? I'm sorry, is your name Aiko? Just like that. Like we accidentally bumped into her." Jimin said animatedly. Hobi smiled at how excited Jimin was.
"Ya..what if she turned into a stalker." Hobi said punching him playfully on the arm.
"Live a little, hyung. For all your sunshine, that is very negative of you." Hobi quietly contemplated this, he drew his lips inward making a thin line where his mouth is, as it usually does, and makes his dimples prominent. "Hyung, more importantly, let's do this for you." Jimin said quietly. "Let's do something for you this time."
He looked at Jimin's earnest face. He smiled and ruffled his hair. How could he say no?
They were near the corner of the bookstore when they almost bumped into a person. Both Jimin and Hobi stepped back. It was Aiko and she was startled too. "Oh, I'm sorry." Hobi immediately said and bowed. Aiko bowed too. When they both recovered, Jimin observed that both their eyes grew big.
"Hoseok-ah?" She said unexpectedly. Hobi looked at Jimin whose eyes read: Plan cancelled. Wing it! Don't mess this up.
"Uh.." Hobi cleared his throat. "Uh..Aiko?" he managed to say.
Aiko bowed again. She looked around and looked a little nervous. Jimin cleared his throat and stuck out his hand. "Hello, I'm Jimin." he said introducing himself. Aiko took his hand and bowed.
"How do you know each other?" he asked. Hobi blinked at him. "Are you old friends?" he prodded poking Hobi at the back.
"Aigoo. Yes. Yes, sorry." Hobi said collecting himself. "We met a long time ago back home. It's nice to see you..here in Seoul."
"Are you from this area?" Jimin asked.
"I'm uh.." Aiko stammered. "Well not really, but I'm here for uh.." She turned to look at the bookstore but seemed to hesitate to say why she was there. Jimin was quick to note that she was reluctant, maybe to mention why she was there. Maybe she's embarrassed to let them know why. Because Hobi is Hopi, he deduced. He couldn't wait to get home and tell the other members.
"On important business?" Hobi helped her finish. Aiko smiled shyly and nodded.
"Hyung, you should catch up with your old friend." Jimin pushed. Hobi was just standing looking at Aiko and this made him laugh. He had never seen Hobi floored.
"Oh, but I have another place that I need to go to." She said apologetically. "Maybe another time?"
Hobi's brain was still loading so Jimin stepped in again. "You should exchange numbers." he smiled innocently. "Will you be in the area again?"
Although she kept on looking back at Hobi, Aiko seemed grateful that Jimin was breaking the awkwardness. "Yes." She nodded. "I will be back here next weekend."
"Hyung, give her your phone so she can put her number in it." Jimin urged. Hobi blinked and did what he was told. Aiko took it with both hands and put her number in. She handed it back to Hobi who, at that point, was rudely staring. Jimin patted him on the back a little too strongly which made Hobi frown at him. Jimin gave him a grin, "You must be tired from practice today, hyung. You are clearly out of it."
Hobi finally understood Jimin, so he turned back to Aiko. "Yes, I am. I'm sorry." He clicked a couple of buttons on his phone and rang Aiko's phone. "Let's meet next week if you're available." He told her. She nodded and they said their goodbyes.
They watched her turn and disappear around the far corner of the bookstore's structure. When she did, Jimin started laughing hard covering his mouth. "Oh, hyung! What was that about?" he said wiping a tear.
Hobi turned to him and laughed nervously as well. "I don't know." He admitted, "I couldn't breathe." He tilted his head and clutched his chest. "Aiish.." he said to himself.
Jimin put his arm over his shoulder. "Come on." he said, pulling Hobi to start walking. "Let's head home."
