-Madeline's P.O.V.-
"Madeline! Are you almost ready?" My mom calls from downstairs. I sigh knowing that this is the big day; the day: Me, my mom, David(My step-dad),Alec, and Josh all move to Miami, Florida. Living in New York will probably be a lot different that Miami. Honestly, I wish we wouldn't have to move, but nope. Mom wants to go to a warmer climate area supposedly. "Erm.. Yeah!" I yell back down at my mom, when clearly I'm nothing close to being ready.
~~
About 30 minutes later, I walk downstairs to be welcomed to my whole family waiting on me- my mom looking pretty angry.I don't see why because we'll be in for a 18 hour car ride. My life is amazing right? Wrong. Luckily, our three SUV's are big enough to take everything to Miami. I'll be riding with Josh, my older, eighteen year old brother. Alec will be riding with David, and mom'll be driving alone.
We all get situated into each vehicle and we head off. Miami, here I come. Even though I'm leaving all of my friends, I'll always keep in touch with them. Sometimes my mom can get annoying, but I love her anyways. She's just that overprotective mother who likes to keep everything on time and together. While we're on the rode, I decide to make conversation with Josh. I know he hates this just as much as me since he had to leave his girlfriend behind. They're going to try long distance, but who knows. He's not like a lot of eighteen year olds here. He's actually not a douche who cheats on every girl just so he can hook up with them.
"Hey, erm, Josh?" He gives me a quick look, then goes back to focusing on the road ahead. "Yeah, Madei?" "What do you think about this whole moving thing..?" He doesn't answer for a bit, until finally he says, "I think it's bull. Mom just had to go to a 'warmer climate'. Ya know, next year we'll probably be moving back." I knew that he had a point, I just don't know if I could stay here a whole entire year..
"Do you think Mom'lll let me end up staying with Dad?" Josh mumbled something in return, but I just ignored it, knowing if I went, he'd come too.
~~ -Arrived in Miami-~~
"Madei! Wake Up!" I'm woken up to a harsh shaking. I mumble something like, "Ermph.. Josh.. Quit it!" I make an attempt of going back to sleep, but the harsh shaking continues. "Ok, Ok! I'm up. Gosh.." I say with my hands up in surrender. "We're here,"Josh says. "Ughhh." Once I finally get adjusted to the light, I look at our new home.
The house is a light beige, with a full three stories. In the second story, there's an opening at the top with a door that comes out onto the balcony to the front of the house. "I call that part!" I yell while pointing to the balcony floor. The house will probably be the only thing that i like here in Miami. "Okay Madei. It's all yours." I mentally do a happy dance, while gathering some of my things that'll go into my room.
I walk up the spiral staircase dragging my purple suitcase with just a small portion of my room in it, then I finally get to my new room. I gasp at the sight that I get to call my room. Before I look around, I call down to my mom, "How did you know?!" She yells something back like,"I knew you were going to choose that room anyways!" My mom is amazing. The walls are a pink-ish color, and so is the carpet floor. Almost everything in my room is zebra-print- my bed, my vanity, some walls, and yes. Even my shower! I drop my suitcase in the middle of the floor, to explore my new room. Anyone would kill to have this room. Honestly, I don't know how Mom and David did this. This had to be a gazillion dollars...right?
~~
It's around nine P.M. right now, and I super tired-even though I slept for about 10 hours in the car ride to get here. The only thing I have unpacked is all of my clothes- I can unpack everything else tomorrow.. or you know.. next year..
I slip on a cute Aeropostale tank, with some capris pajamas, then jump straight into bed. Good Lord.. This is the most comfortable bed I have ever layed in. I scrunch up under the covers, slipping them over my head. No, I am certainly not like some girls who have their hair all perfect when they go to sleep, and sleep all peacefully. I get relaxed, then get comfortable. That's how I sleep.
~~
Beep! Beep! Beep! Beep!
I hate that alarm so much. I slam my hand down on it to hopefully shut it up.. 5:30 A.M. greatt.. First day of school, in a new state, and a new school. Hopefully today will go by pretty good. I head to my bathroom, then strip off my pajamas, then get into the steaming hot shower. I hope no one wants to have a hot shower this morning. Haha.
When I get out, I wrap a towel around me and turn on my hair dryer. Once my hair is good and dry, I curl it, and decide to do a waterfall braid on my blonde-brown hair. I walk into my room with a towel still wrapped around me, and put on some Hollister skinny jeans, along with my navy blue TOMS, then I slip on my beige oversized, knitted sweater from Abercrombie, with a pale cami under it.
Once I finish all of that, I apply my makeup, then head downstairs for breakfast. When I look at the time, its 6:30 A.M. and apparently school starts around 7:55 A.M. "Hey Mom, hey David," I say when I finally get down the spiral staircase. "Hey sweetiepie. How'd you sleep?" My mom asks. "Good." "Hey Madie Bug, ready for today?" David then asks. He acts like he's my real Dad, but clearly he's not. I still just give him a chance. "Nope. Not really." I sigh. Today is going to awkward. Being the new girl, in a new school, in a new state. What do ya know? "Where's Josh and Alec?" I ask. Usually they're up by now- well, they were back in New York.
"Oh. Alec is upstairs- asleep. He doesn't have school until 8:30. I guess Josh'll wake up later." My younger 6 year old brother, Alec, is so lucky right now. He doesn't have to wake up at 5:30 in the morning just to get ready for school. And well... He's not a girl...
"Oh, Okay." I say as I stand on my toes to reach a medium sized blue bowl. David's reading the paper, and mom's dealing with her work situation, and here I am struggling to get a bowl.. Once I finally get it down, I pour some milk and Frosted Flakes into it, and eat. Since I'm only 15 and don't have my permit yet, I had a choice of my mom taking me to school, or the bus. Of course I chose my mom. I am certainly not dealing with jerks on a bus.

-Arriving at school-
"Bye Mom. Love you." I say as I grab my school bag and head into the building. "Love you too sweetheart!" When I get into the building, I'm lucky enough to be right in front of the front office. "Erm. Exscuse me?" I ask the lady at the front desk. "Yes sweetie? What can I do for you?" "Erm. I'm kind of new here, and I have no clue what to do or where to go..." "Oh! You must be Madeline Carter, am I right?" I nod my head in agreement, hoping she'll show me where my classes are. About five minutes later, she called someone to come down and help me out with everything.
"Madeline, just take a seat over there while we wait on Heather Woods to come down and show you around." Once again, I just nod.
I hear footsteps coming down the hall and I'm hoping it's that Heather girl. "Hey! You must be Madeline?" "Erm. Yeah.." "Cool! Well, I'm Heather, and I'll be giving you a tour! Haha." She actually seems really sweet. She has long blonde hair, with hazel eyes. This school might not actually be so bad after all...
~~
"Ok, well that's all! What classes do you have?" She asks me. This has got to be the biggest school ever. "Erm.. Chemistry, Math, Home Ec, Pre-Calculus, andd.. Creative writing.." "Yay! We have all of the same class except for home Ec! I'll introduce you to some of my friends after Chemistry. Ok?" I not agreement, excited for what awaits me.
Heather leads me down the hall to chemistry, and luckily the class hasn't started into a full-on session. "Mrs. Clark, this is Madeline Carter." The chemistry looks at me for a moment, and gives me a welcoming smile. "Ahh, Miss Carter! Welcome, welcome. Erm, take a seat over there behind Heather, mmk?" "Okay. Thank you." I walk behind Heather to the seat behind her, and set my things on the floor. Mrs. Clark seems to be going on about something dealing with chemistry, and I just open my book, acting like I'm paying attention.
