Eleanor
I sighed heavily as I rummaged through my wardrobe, standing in nothing but my bra and underwear as I try desperately to find something nice to wear for tonight. Lyla told me to find something that makes me feel sexy and elegant, but there's nothing in here but casual clothes and my work outfits. I groaned in frustration, running my hands through my face as I sat down in a huff on the edge of my bed. "Luna, mummy's not in the game anymore." I looked down at my fluff ball of a cat who looked up at me with curiosity with her wide brown eyes and meowed in response. I chuckled, stroking her head as she snuggled into me, purring softly every time I touched her. "Why do I have such a weird best friend? Thankfully, you're somewhat normal compared to her. So that's one normal friend I have." I chuckled as she licked my hand softly and I sighed sweetly, smiling down at her, "Oh who am I kidding? You're my daughter." I giggled as I scratched her belly as she shook her leg with happiness as she rolled over.
Sometimes she thinks she's a dog, it's weird.
Before I got up to have another rummage around in my wardrobe for something decent for the club tonight, I heard my phone vibrate, I turned around to pick it up, only to smile as I saw my dad calling me. I pressed the green button to answer and held it up to my ear.
"Hi dad! It's so good to hear from you!" I smiled as I could practically feel my dad smiling on the other end of the phone. "Ellie bear, it's so good to hear your voice poppet. How have you been? How's work?" He asked, his voice is very deep and low but he is the happiest man I have ever met, he's constantly in such a good mood and always knows how to cheer me up. "Work is good dad, patients come and go and all I'm doing is trying to get them back on their feet." I said, stroking Luna's head as she snoozed. "You're changing lives poppet, I'm so proud of you!" My dad stated which caused me to break out into a huge smile, getting butterflies every time he mentions he's proud of me. "Thanks dad. How have you been?" I asked and he chuckled lightly, "I've been fine sweetie, don't worry about me. I've just been working down at the hospital and that keeps me occupied and busy." He said and I hummed in response, my dad has always been a hard worker.
"Is that Ellie?!" I heard a familiar voice from the other end of the phone ask, I rolled my eyes but chuckled. "HI ELLIE!" I heard my younger sister, Aurora, shout which caused my dad to tsk and I laughed. "HEY AURA!" I shouted back in response as I giggled and her and dad laughed on the other end of the phone. "Goodness sake Aurora, you're twenty one, quit the shouting, it was bad enough you were doing it as a child." My dad tutted but I could feel him smiling as I laughed but heard Aurora scoff, "everyone still has their inner child dad! Even you do, old man!" She teased which caused me to laugh but then heard my sister squeal loudly and my dad burst into laughter. "What the hell happened?" I questioned while chuckling as my dad continued to laugh. "I chucked a glass of water on her, that'll teach her for calling me old!" My dad stated proudly which caused me to burst into a fit of laughter.
"So poppet, what are you up to tonight?" My dad asked me out of curiosity and I sighed, "Lyla is forcing me to go out clubbing." I stated in a monotone voice and my dad lightly chuckled, "there's nothing wrong with going out and having a good time. You work too hard Ellie, you need a break sometimes and having a good time while you're still young won't kill you. Just go out, have a few drinks and dance your heart out." My dad told me sincerely and I sighed while shrugging my shoulders, admitting defeat. "Okay dad, I will." I told him honestly, "Good girl! Have a good time and stay safe out there, let me know in the morning if you're okay. I love you Ellie bear." My dad told me sweetly and I smiled at the little pet name he's been calling me ever since I was little, "thanks dad, I love you too." I smiled into the phone.
My dad and I continued to talk about a few more things before we eventually said our goodbyes and I put the phone down and continued to look for something to wear. I stopped at my tracks when I saw a sparkly, cream coloured back cut dress. I pulled it out to have a proper look at it, it shimmered underneath the bedroom light. I bit my lip, remembering the last time I wore this was when I was twenty one and we went out for my birthday. I decided to wear my old friend one last time, so I sighed and placed it neatly on my bed.
