Eleanor
Seven Weeks
I was early. Too early.
I nervously scratched the back of my leg, the material of my dark blue Demin jeans shifting slightly as I nervously gazed around the buzzing restaurant as I gazed down at my rings on my fingers, the pure silver and glass sparkling under the light.
I had arranged my meet my dad and my younger sister, Aurora, at a little Italian restaurant not too far away from where we lived, a nice comfortable atmosphere where I could break the news to them. Oh God, I was terrified.
My dad was always worried about me growing up, I was a shy child. I struggled making friends and was ridiculed at school because of my quietness, making it even harder for me to form friendship groups. I eventually got over it and graduated from secondary school, college and University and I have been doing well so far if I do say so myself, aside from you know, now I have a baby with someone I'm not even dating and have known five minutes.
I always wanted to be the daughter my dad could be proud of, I know he is proud of me, as he tells me all the time, but, what if I disappoint him with an unplanned baby? What if he calls me a failure or tells me to get rid of it? I couldn't and wouldn't do that.....but I needed my family for support, I don't know what I'd do if they'd disown me for this.
I sighed heavily, picking at the loose thread on my cream coloured blouse, trying to fight the urge to vomit from my nerves eating me up inside, every second ticking before my father and sister got here, I felt like an emotional and physical wreck. Can I just leap through time and be rid of this day?!
I felt a sudden kick in the gut when I spotted my dad and sister walk through the door, my dad dressed in his usual smart manner, his designer shirt neatly tucked into his tailored trousers and his tie neatly arranged around his folded down collar, his beard and hair certainly a lot shorter than the last time I saw him, now spotting more grey hairs curling around both his hair and beard. He may be my dad but, William Reed was defiantly a handsome man, but after my biological mother, never had an interest in marrying or the dating life, he always told me he was more focused on his children, but oh, the women swooned over his looks.
Aurora spotted me and waved, causing me to wave back as she tugged my dad's shirt to grab his attention as he turned to where I sat, his smile beaming as he spotted me. I politely stood up as the both walked over, Aurora the first to run over and hug me tightly. "Ellie! It's great to see you again big sis, you look great!" Aurora stated, tucking her long hair behind her ears as she eyed me up and down in admiration.
Aurora was a beautiful young woman, her long curled hair resting down to her rib cage, it bounced as she walked and her bright green eyes dazzled with her wide and toothed smile, captivating her good looks even more. Her short green dress hugged her small and thin body, exposing her freckled chest and tanned chest. I hardly saw Aurora, but when I did, we'd catch up like old best friends from school. See, as kids, we were never close, we'd constantly fight and bicker like siblings did, but after she finished university, she wanted to see more of me, and of course, I wanted to be closer to my sister and since then, we've gotten closer and spend more time together. But sometimes it's hard, Aurora has been travelling the world with her boyfriend of five years, Liam, and while the photos she sends me are gorgeous and she's in her element for twenty one, I do miss her at times, but boy, am I glad she's back for Easter.
"Aura! I've missed you, wow, you looked so lovely and tanned." I said in amazement, her brown coloured skin glistening as she giggled, "it's called the lovely shine from Croatia." She giggled while outstretching her arms and twirling as I rolled my eyes but chuckled, opening my arms as I wrapped them around my dad as he hugged me back tightly, smelling of the usual strong earthy scent of his powerful cologne (he doesn't know the limit sometimes).
