Tomb Raider | Jaeyong

Chapter 5

The air smelled of rich cologne a hint of alcohol wafted into the mix. Servers holding trays filled with coloured drinks, ranging from red wine to champagne. People looked at the couple which had just walked into the house. They were an unusual pair to say the least, people were whispering but that was obviously something which was bound to happen. Taeyong picked up a glass of champagne in his left hand, his right arm was occupied as it was weaved around Jaehyuns arm.  Jaehyun was looking around, nodding at some of the guests as a sign of acknowledgment.

"Shall we go and talk to Mr and Mrs Seo?" Jaehyun said while leaning down to whisper into Taeyong's ear.

Taeyong nodded in agreement and so the couple made their way towards a pair of well-dressed people who were greeting their guest at the entrance.

"Good evening Mr and Mrs Seo. What a lovely event this is" Jaehyun said.

"And I must add that your hospitality is something to acknowledge." Taeyong added

"Why thank you. Now there's no need for both of you to be so formal around us." Mrs Seo said, "now I Have a question for the both of you, if you don't mind me asking, when did you two become a thing?" She added.

"Oh it's a... long story" Taeyong said

The group continued making their conversation which was slowly taking a turn towards the compass.

"From what I've heard this Compass was extremely hard to find" Taeyong said

"Oh, it was, which is why we hired some of the best security guards on the field. With this little thief on the loose we have to make sure the compass is heavily guarded" Mr Seo said

"What time will the compass be shown?" Jaehyun asked

"In around an hour or so. You'll have to excuse us, seems like there's a scene going on" Mr Seo said before pointing behind the couple.

The two turned around only to see a group of men having a go at each other. The reason why was quite obvious as it was shown in a red spill going all the way down a white suit. The Seo couple weaved their way through the crowd ready to intervene and then....

The lights went out.

Meanwhile, half an hour earlier, Mark was making his way up the red-carpet lined stairs. Once he reached the 1st floor, he looked from left to right, there were a few people upstairs but since the party was downstairs there weren't many. He had memorised the blueprints of the house earlier that day and knew that there was a spiral stairs case hidden behind a bookshelf in the study which led to the small security room. His hand came to rest on the tranquilliser gun located in his jackets left hand inside pocket. A gun was too loud and would probably echo so a tranquilliser would have to do.

Taking a left, he worked his way around the guests, all while taking sips out of his champagne class in his right hand. Once it was empty, he left it on one of the small tables on the side before he made sure no one was looking and took a sharp turn around the corner. There were two rooms he could go too, and both looked the same as he tried to remember which one was the correct room.

'Ah! The right' he said to himself before venturing into the dimly lit room.

But before he moved into the room, he took note of the security camera to the left of the entrance. He took a piece of bubble gum out of his pocket and chewed it casually before taking a chair from nearby and sticking the gum right on the camera lens.

He smiled to himself before focusing on the task at hand

There was no one there to his relief, he scanned the large bookshelf in front of him.
