Chapter 1

A New Life

Dying was a numbing perspective

Literally

My body shutting off, slowly going down as my world became blank

The breath leaving my lungs as my ears ring out as my cells die with my body

And all I could think of was-

Cancer is an absolutely Bitch

The soft crinkling is strange...

And new

It tickled at my ears and shifted through my sheets almost like the Summer wind yet-

'Didn't I die...? Or is this heaven of some sort- because this sure ain't hell...'

He slowly got up, the springs underneath him giving way as they creaked

'Wha- oh come on! I'm not even heavy..!'

He couldn't help but think, vision slowly clearing as the darkroom seemingly aluminates itself by a red light-

'The hell...?'

He blinked looking around, the red light following with his gaze

'Where- this isn't my room!'

His weight shifted as he got up slowly too but his feet over the edge and-

"What the fu-"

He jumped back, hearing the springs squeak loudly underneath him, his body roughly shaking as he hit the wall with a loud overbearing thud

-1

He froze at the familiar pit that enveloped him as he saw the little number appear and disappear within an instant as his breath hitched

He brought his hands up to grip and his hair but froze at the unfamiliar bone

"Just like my fee-"

His voice

'Why...'

The word repeated over and over as he tried and failed to breathe, he didn't hear the distressed cry of the other that came bursting into his room, he could not hear the shouts of panic, nor could he feel the hands that reached out to comfort his -now - large and shaking form

He had passed out from the lack of oxygen- at least that's what the 'doctor' said...

though he doubted it.... after all, it didn't seem skeletons needed a way to breathe at all without lungs or a respiratory system in general

It was probably because of stress... he would do that as a human after all

"BROTHER!!! IT'S TIME TO WAKE NOW!"

The voice was loud and demented, but it comforted him

Its familiar ring Stung the air and filled him with relief, reminding him that the other was alive and well

Slowly he lifted himself off the creaking mattress, the bed frame broken beyond repair due to his weight and size

he was far too big to get out the door alone so Papy- his brother- had begun remodeling the house, leaving him without a real door or frame
